Michael D. Robinson

Michael D Robinson, 56, died March 2, 2021 at his home after a year-long battle with pancreatic cancer. He was surrounded by members of his immediate family. Mike was born December 12, 1964 in Bountiful, Utah, to James C. and Kristine Robinson. He married Deborah Guymon August 6, 1988 in the St. George Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He is a graduate of Parowan High School and Southern Utah University and spent a successful and rewarding 30-year career as a fifth grade teacher, 29 years of it at Parowan Elementary. Many past students have maintained relationships. Mike was always an unassuming, unselfish, “doer,” “assister,” “teacher,” and—unconsciously--a leader by example. He has been a Little League coach, a youth basketball coach, a high school student body president, an all-state football player, an all-state basketball player, a missionary in South Dakota, a counselor in a bishopric; and he was serving as his ward’s Elders Quorum President when diagnosed with cancer in April 2020. Efficient, friendly, willing, hardworking, and multi-talented are good descriptions. Mike and his wife planned and self-built two homes, and he has helped unnumbered people in the area with their building and carpeting projects. Mike’s philosophy was that athletics and participation in other activities were good for school children; he encouraged that. His own children accumulated over a half-dozen state championships in state track and field events. Mike is survived by Debbie, his loving and caring wife, and three children: Megan (Eric) Domgaard, St. George; Ryan (Jessica) Robinson, Springville; and Brandon (Caitlyn) Robinson, Cedar City. As well as his five grandchildren: Ella, Kaleb, Luke, McCoy, Oliver, another baby boy due in April and his seven siblings: James H. (Konnie) Robinson, Daniel (Val) Robinson, Matthew (Gail) Robinson, Annette (Corwin) Garrick, Jan (Ned) Chidester, Heidi (Jeremy) Bullock, and Connie (Angelo) Biasi. The family expresses sincere appreciation to the many people—professional and personal—who have offered support and assistance. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Parowan High School Scholarship Fund to assist graduating PHS athletes continue their education. Funeral services are scheduled at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 6, following a private family viewing, at the Parowan 3rd/4th Ward Chapel, 98 South Main. Masks are highly encouraged.
