Rudy Roy Medina

Rudy R. Medina of St. George, UT, passed away from this world to a better one on Thursday, September 4, 2014, at the age of 67. Rudy passed peacefully in his sleep at his home, surrounded by his loved ones. His family and friends were everything to him and he did not want to leave us. He beat the odds and surprised the doctors for living as long as he had with Cancer. He also continued to work through this long hard battle. He fought a good fight. Rudy was born to Matias and Laura Medina February 23, 1947, in Santa Maria, CA. Rudy spent his youth in California. He served in The United States Marine Corps, thereafter he married the love of his life Janet G. Rathbun July 2, 1978, then was sealed for time and eternity in the Oakland Temple. Rudy was devoted to all his family. He loved animals especially riding his horse Cory, sports, cars, music, fishing, camping, rodeos and the beach. He felt great joy in having his children and grandchildren near him. Rudy worked in the Automobile Industry for 41 years, the last 20 years were spent with Stephen Wade Auto where he was greatly respected and loved by fellow employees and acquired a vast amount of loyal customers who also become his friends. Rudy converted to the LDS religion 22 years ago and had many callings in the Church. Rudy was a person who people went to for council and support. He was willing to give of his time and his means when necessary to help those in need. Rudy is survived by: his wife Janet; 5 children Linda Marshall, Melissa (Geoffrey) Pena, Monique (Ethan) Reinsch-Brian, Phillip Matthew (Marisol) Medina, Daniel Rudy (Erika) Medina all of St. George, UT; 6 grandchildren, Chance, Maya, Porsche, Sophie, Joshua and Tyce; siblings, Mary Lou, Sarah Navarro, Jane Aller, JoAnn Lemus, Mildred (Ed) Finney, James (Connie) Medina, George (Carol) Medina, all of California. He was preceded in death by: his parents, siblings, Lorencita, Joe, and David. Rudy went about life with a good smile on his face, had a great sense of humor he asked that we all celebrate his life. He knew he would see us again… Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 13, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. at the Red Cliffs 5th Ward Chapel, 1285 N. Bluff Street, St. George, UT. A visitation will be held Friday the 12th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and again on Saturday from 11:30 to 12:30, both at the chapel. Interment with military honors will follow the service at the Tonaquint Cemetery.
