Stacie (Stace) Sharp

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Stacie (Stace) Sharp, a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and friend and a true free spirit. Stace passed away in the comfort of her home in Southern Utah on March 12, 2023, due to complications with Rheumatoid Arthritis. Born on May 24, 1953, in Midvale, Utah to Dale and Mitzi Sharp, Stace was an uncommonly intelligent, creative, and strong figure who lived openly and authentically from a young age. Although she faced many challenges throughout her life, Stace remained true to herself and her beliefs. She was never afraid to speak her mind, go against the norm, or stand up for the underdog, paving the way for others to live their truth more fully. Stace was a timeless artist who was able to infuse her talents into every aspect of her professional and personal life. She owned her own online wellness business, designed store interiors in Park City and Salt Lake City, oversaw the design and marketing for the Green Valley Spa, and was commissioned to create a largescale, etched glass hallway for the School for the Deaf in Salt Lake City to name a few of her many projects. However, some of her most important work involved hours of drawing and promoting the arts and creativity with her nieces and nephews, all of which worked diligently to mimic her matchless handwriting. Her art was a reflection of her unique perspective on the world and was always deeply personal, honest, and thought-provoking. A fierce and loyal friend, many of Stace’s lifelong connections were more closely associated with family. A lover of nature and animals, Stace was the proud parent to many pets that were among her most cherished friends and companions. Stace is survived by her brothers Scott (Karen) and Steve (Carole) and eight nieces and nephews: Lauren, Christopher, Katelyn, Adam, Jordon, Morgan, Sadie, and Stevie, along with 22 great nieces and nephews. Stace adored her family and followed their lives closely. In her later years, she moved to St. George to help care for her parents where she lived until she passed away. The family would like to thank the good friends in Harrisburg who helped Stace during these past few years as her health declined. We would also like to thank her personal physician Dr. Kathleen Obray who faithfully stood by her, who was willing to provide constant help and comfort, and who relentlessly searched for a cures, answers, and support until the very end. Her husband, Dr. Jon Obray, was equally gracious and helpful in controlling Stace’s painful symptoms. Stace will be greatly missed, but we find peace in the knowledge that her pain is over and she is with her parents who she immensely loved and adored. However, her legacy of challenging us to think differently, to see beauty in the unconventional, and to celebrate diversity will live on in all those who knew and loved her.
