Aileen Slack Ruesch

Our dear mother Aileen Slack Ruesch passed from our loving arms into loving arms of those who proceeded her on January 14, 2026, in St. George, Utah. She was born on Dec 5, 1933, in La Verkin to Elwin and Anna Slack, the only daughter amongst her 4 brothers, Sherwin, Aril, Earl and Clark. She married Daniel Quimby Ruesch Sept. 19,1951, they were sealed for time and eternity in the St. George temple the next year. They raised a rambunctious group of 5 sons; Rex, David, Martin, Brent and Scott and 1 daughter; Kathleen and a full passel of grandchildren, great grandchildren and even a few great greats for good measure. Aileen was raised in La Verkin and attended school in Hurricane. While in elementary school she lived with her grandma Slack, coming home on weekends to wash her dress and head back to help grandma during the week. As a young girl Aileen would help her father on the turkey farm picking fruit from the orchard and working in the fruit stand, meeting people from all over. This led to a lifetime of various jobs. She was a cross-guard, score keeper, meter reader, delivered newspapers for the routes, picked rocks at the cemetery, worked for Chums and delivered flowers among other things. She loved using these opportunities to meet everyone she could. When Quim and Aileen were first married, they went on cedar mountain to tend sheep. Then living out on Uncle Emil Graﬀ’s turkey farm while working for Uncle Emil, this was where Zion Estates and the RV park are now. She was very active in the church of Latter-Day Saints where she held many callings. Some of her favorites were working in the primary and helping in the library, however her absolute favorite was leading the music for the primary and sacrament meeting. Her unoﬃcial calling was to help any family with children, Aileen loved to help calm fussy babies from unsuspecting parents. Aileen was very passionate about genealogy, creating an amazing collection from her lineage. She was exceptionally knowledgeable about the families that settled the Hurricane valley and how they were related. You learned never to tell her the name of your latest date. Aileen is survived by her brothers Clark and Earl (Jackie), her children Rex (Ariel), David (Susan), Martin, Kathy (John) and Scott (Leta). Many grandchildren and great grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Elwin and Anna, her. Brother Aril & Sherwin, her loving husband Quim, her son Brent, her grandsons Jason and Wade and a granddaughter Shelby. Funeral services will be held on Friday January 23, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the La Verkin LDS Stake Center located at 481 N Main St La Verkin, Utah. A viewing will be held from 10:00-10:30 prior to services at the same location. Interment will be held at La Verkin Cemetery following services.
