Arlo W Pearce

Arlo Woolley Pearce, 80, passed away peacefully January 27, 2014 at his home in Ivins, Utah. Arlo was born September 20, 1933 to William Edward and Marguerett Woolley Pearce in Vernal Utah. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He went to Downey High School in California where he was a star basketball player, nicknamed “Mighty Mite.” He later served as an Army Sergeant in South Korea during the Korean Conflict. After returning home, Arlo served an LDS mission to the East Central States. On March 25, 1961, he married Sharon Lee Julius in the Los Angeles LDS Temple. He is the father of two children, grandfather of five and great grandfather of four. Arlo enjoyed all kinds of sports - playing and watching. He was a fan of the USC Trojans, L.A. Lakers and L.A. Dodgers. He loved to garden, camp and fish. His family often spent summer vacations camping. He never watched a movie twice – what was the point? He served as a Bishop in the LDS Church. Arlo was a soft-spoken and patient man who was respected by family and friends. He had a profound love of our country. He was deeply religious and had complete trust and faith in our Savior, Jesus Christ. Arlo is survived by his wife-Sharon; children- Darren (Katie) Pearce, Jody Watkins; Grandchildren - Randi (Coby) Johnson, Cody (Lany) Watkins, Tanner Watkins, Jacob Watkins, and Maggie Pearce; Great Grandchildren - Cade, Crew, Aniston and Elle Johnson. He is also survived by his siblings - Callas (Dottie) Pearce, Verl (Denise) Pearce, Mason Pearce and Annalea Kendell. He is preceded in death by his Parents - William and Marguerett Pearce, his brother - Dellas Pearce and his sister - Neita Carpenter Funeral service will be held Friday, January 31, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at the Ivins 1st Ward LDS Chapel. 290 E. 1060 S., Ivins, UT. A visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will follow at the Ivins City Cemtery.
