Betty Ann Whiddon

Betty Ann Whiddon, AKA Mimi, returned to live with her father in heaven on February first, 2017. Mimi was born a lively, affectionate lady on September 22, 1929, in St. Louis, Missouri. Mimi grew up in St. Louis and later lived in Florida before marrying Chet Whiddon. They moved to Las Vegas when her husband was offered a good job opportunity and she became a showroom waitress and captain at the former MGM Grand Hotel for the show Hallelujah Hollywood for over 25 years. Some of Mimi’s hobbies included gardening, decorating her home at Christmas time, and throwing parties. The one hobby that made Mimi happy was cooking and she was great at it. She could take an ordinary dish and make it mouthwatering. When Mimi’s husband of almost thirty years passed away, Mimi moved to St. George, Utah to be closer to her mother. It was there that Mimi became known for her desserts. For several years Mimi made all the homemade desserts at the old Fairway Grill restaurant. Her culinary treats were so popular they were featured in several commercials for the restaurant under the quip “will work for Mimi’s desserts.” Besides being known in town for her famous homemade cheesecake or carrot cake, she was also a wonderful mom and a loving grandmother. This feisty lady was survived by: her daughter Stacey McGinnis and her husband Shawn; grandchildren: Chelsey (Ryan Eaton), Tyler (Mikenzi), Jordyn, Ryan, and Ireland; great-granddaughters: Sophie, Scarlett and Audrey Eaton from St. George; her son Tony Whiddon and wife Suzanne; grandchildren: Joshua (Lyndsey), Emily (Justin), Jared, Jake, and Abigail; and great-grandchildren: Lily, Noah, and Zachary from Las Vegas, Nevada; her step-son Al (Robin) Whiddon; grandchildren: Cody (Ashley), Brady, Cooper, and Chloee (Kyle), and Katie (Drew) from Jacksonville, Florida; step-daughter Melodie Whiddon; grandchildren: Chip Gideon and Jessica (Ray) Scull; and great-grandchild Ethan from Pensacola, Florida; step-son Ronald Whiddon (Teresa); great-grandchildren: Justin and Jesse; and granddaughters from Ray Whiddon (deceased): Kristin Whiddon, Lauren Whiddon. A graveside service will be held at the Washington City Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, February 6, 2017.
