Bruce Chapman

Bruce was born in Oakland California on March 10, 1945, to Lenora Caroline Nobriga and Harold Jackson Bell. At the age of 5 Bruce was adopted by his “Dad” William King Chapman. He was raised in San Leandro, CA in an active, loving home with his 4 brothers: Chris, Pat, Mike and Bill (Merrilee) Chapman and one very loved sister, Tina (Andrew) Shaffer. When Bruce was in his teens Bruce was a guitar player and singer in the Echo’s. A band comprised of his local best friends. Bruce graduated from Arroyo High Scholl in San Lorenzo, CA in 1963 and later graduated from Moler Barber School and maintained his barbers license for the rest of his life. He spent most of his career as a barber, eventually owning as many as six shops at one time. He also worked as an Automotive Machinest for 5 years and possessed a lifelong talent for assembling and repairing anything mechanical. Bruce was deeply fascinated with firearms and spent many hours taking them apart and reassembling them. He made many wood stocks for his rifles and did intricate carvings in the wood. He also had a remarkable gift for memorization; he could recite firearm statistics from memory, having studied many books and magazines on the subject. He truly loved nothing more than having an in-depth discussion with a knowledgeable gun owner. In addition to his fascination with firearms, Bruce loved movies and was happiest spending the entire day in the theater. He could tell you the name of almost any movie and the names of the stars and character actors that were in the movie. He was also a sporadic body builder who enjoyed spending time in the gym lifting weights and hanging out with his friends. On September 11,1967, Bruce married Lynn Cazier in Reno, NV. They were married for 59 years, and achievement he was immensely proud of. Together, they raised their two children, Christi Ann and David Earl Chapman, in Newark and Fremont, CA. He was a devoted grandfather to Lauren Haley and Braydon William Chapman. Bruce was one of a kind. He loved anything weird, unusual, extraterrestrial, or bazaar and he always had an entertaining story to tell about his latest findings. For the past five years, he resided in St. George, UT, where he enjoyed the lifestyle and scenery of Southern Utah. Bruce passed away peacefully at home with his wife by his side.
