Carla Marie Taylor Horn

Carla Marie Taylor Horn passed away peacefully on June 8, 2026, in St. George, Utah. She was born on August 4, 1949, in Phoenix, Arizona, to Dewey and Marie Taylor. She married Austin Horn on September 10, 1970, in Phoenix, Arizona, and they were later sealed in the Mesa Arizona Temple. Carla was the middle child among five sisters, all of whom she loved dearly. In her younger years, she enjoyed swimming and playing softball. She graduated from Camelback High School in 1967 and loved driving her 1967 Ford Mustang. After high school, Carla worked briefly as a dental assistant and later as a secretary at Westminster College. Her true passion, however, was holistic healing. In 1993, she and her son, Rob, graduated together from Utah College of Massage Therapy. She later taught and traveled throughout the country recruiting for the school. Carla enjoyed a career in massage therapy that spanned more than 30 years, working both in private practice and alongside Dr. Clyde Keller. Carla and Austin were blessed with five children, and being a mother was the greatest joy of her life. Her family meant everything to her. She faithfully taught her children the values of hard work, service, and faith. Family home evening, family prayer, and scripture study were cherished traditions in her home. She loved spending time with her children, taking them skiing and swimming, hosting family gatherings, and creating lasting memories together. One of her favorite places was Disneyland, which she enjoyed visiting many times with her children and grandchildren. Carla was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in many callings, including Relief Society President and Young Women President. She served with all her heart and was deeply loved by members of her wards. Carla is survived by her beloved husband, Austin Horn; her five children, Keri (Darren) Dautel, Robert (Michelle) Horn, Jennifer (Richard) Deloney, Becky (Steve) Dougherty, and Jeremy (Molly) Horn; 30 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dewey and Marie Taylor, her grandson, Zachary Dougherty and great-grandson Marshall Anderson Our family would like to express heartfelt gratitude to the healthcare professionals and dear friends who cared for and loved Carla so generously. We especially thank her devoted husband, Austin, who faithfully remained by her side and lovingly cared for her every need during the past ten years. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the Green Valley LDS Chapel located at 124 North Valley View Drive, St. George, Utah 84770. A viewing will be held on Monday, June 15, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., and again on Tuesday morning from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. prior to the funeral service. Interment will follow at Utah National Cemetery, 2181 West 1600 South, Cedar City, Utah 84720.
