Carol Anderson Buckner

Carol Anderson Buckner passed away on March 19, 2026, in St. George, Utah. Carol was born on September 13, 1940, to Frank W. Anderson and Florine Stoopes Anderson in Ogden, Utah at Dee Hospital. She was raised in Plain City, Utah, on a farm with her sister Jean, until her fathers early passing in 1959. Carol earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Utah State University in Logan, Utah and later earned her master’s plus 60 from Westminster College in Salt Lake City, Utah. After graduating from Utah State, she moved to Denver, Colorado where she got married and started her family, welcoming her son Chris and daughter Shelley. Later, Carol moved to Pittsburg, Pennsylvania where son Jason was born, and then to Sandy, Utah where she lived for over 32 years. In 2005 she moved to St. George, Utah to be closer to her children and grandchildren. Carol worked as a teacher in the Granite School District for 27 years where she taught at Central Jr. High in the 1970’s and finished her teaching career at Bennion Jr. High in Taylorsville, Utah. She was a firm but far teacher. As her teaching career was winding down, Carol opened her home to foster children and troubled teens helping with maternal guidance. Carol kept busy in her later years finding full-time work and joining a quilting guild in Hurricane, Utah. Her kids and grandkids have custom quilts that Carol made with love. Carol enjoyed life and her children were often reminded by others that she was a cool mom, and her kids knew that she was a cool mom! Later in her life Carol opened her home to friends and roommates and shared her home with her grandchildren Julia and Jakob for a time. Carol is survived by her sons Chris Buckner and Jason Buckner, who were at her side at her time of passing, who reside in the St. George, Utah area, her grandchildren Jakob Buckner and Julia Buckner, great granddaughters Scarlett, Shelbee, and Amelia, who reside in Oregon, and four awesome nieces, Susan, Marsha, Rosalee and Joanie. Carol is preceded in death by her first grandchild, Victoria Buckner (November 1997) and daughter Shelley Buckner who passed at 59 years old on July 30, 2025, sister Joan Ellsworth who passed on December 13, 2025, and many beloved pets. A celebration of Carol’s life will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at 446 East Mangum Road, Washington, Utah. Family and friends are invited to attend. A family luncheon will be held at 1:00 p.m. The family would like to thank Morgan Beddow and family for being such a great roommate and friend to our mom. Carol spoke often of how Morgan and her boys, Scott and Henry, brightened her days. Thank you for all that you did for our mom.
