Crystal Joyce Burnett Deveraux

St. George, UT - Crystal Joyce Burnett Deveraux, 83, passed away on February 26, 2018, at her home in St. George, Utah with her family by her side. Crystal was born on July 3, 1934 to Kenneth Merle Kinney and Helen Gladys Damgaard Kinney, in Minden, Kearney County, Nebraska. She was the oldest of four children. The family moved to Twin Falls, Idaho, where she attended high school, graduating in 1951. Crystal married James Oliver Burnett on October 22, 1952, in Buhl, Idaho. He was in the Air Force at the time and was stationed in Roswell, New Mexico. Crystal enjoyed their stay there very much. They moved back to Idaho and Brent Wayne was born in Twin Falls. They moved to Pocatello so Jim could go to school. They were blessed with three more children, Brad James, Becky Renee, and Chris James. Crystal received a certificate from Idaho State University in secretarial training in1965. She worked as a secretary at Idaho State University, Westinghouse, Inc, and Idaho Bank and Trust. She was also employed at Thrifty Nickel and Quail Ridge Retirement Home. Crystal’s hobbies include bowling, needlepoint, golf, and traveling. Crystal was an avid bible reader and sought to change her life for the better. She attended several different congregations in Pocatello and enjoyed the companionship of fellow worshipers. She came to know and love her Savior, Jesus Christ. Jim passed away on May 26, 2003. In 2011, Crystal attended her 60th year high school reunion. She renewed her acquaintance with Dave Deveraux. They were married on August 21, 2012. Dave and Crystal made their home in St. George, Utah. Dave and Crystal loved to travel and play golf together. She became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on December 12, 2012. Dave and Crystal were sealed together in the St. George Temple on March 11, 2014. Crystal was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth Kinney and Gladys Hazen, her baby brother, Allen LeRoy, who died when he was two, her husband, James Oliver Burnett, and her son, Brent Wayne Burnett. Crystal is survived by her husband, Dave Deveraux, St. George, Utah; her sister, Judy Anderson, Twin Falls, Idaho; her brother, Kenneth Joe Kinney, Seattle Washington; her Daughter-in-law, Vickie (Brent) Burnett, Nampa, Idaho, her children, Brad (Joyce) Burnett, Pocatello, Idaho; Becky (Lonnie) Melton, Pocatello, Idaho; and Chris, Portland, Oregon; and her step-daughters: Susan Kay Sippola, Soda Springs, ID, Lorraine Giannini, Idaho Falls, ID, and Diane Chapman, Blackfoot, ID. Her grandchildren, Robert (Elaine) Burnett, Meridian, Idaho; Jimmy (Krista) Burnett, Meridian, Idaho; Laryn (Jussara) Burnett, Pocatello, Idaho; Kerry (Emily) Burnett, Provo, Utah; Alycia Burnett, Provo, Utah; Kalyse Burnett, Provo, Utah; Matthew (Kayce) Melton, Spanish Fort, Alabama; Michael Melton, Spanish Fort, Alabama; Mark (Stephanie) Melton, Pocatello, Idaho; and 8 great-grandchildren. A memorial service for Crystal will be held on Saturday, March 3, 2018, at 1:00 p.m. at the Sun River 1st Branch LDS Church, 4461 Country Club Drive, St. George, UT. A visitation for close friends and family will be held one hour prior to service in the Relief Society room. The family asks that no flowers be sent at this time, but donations be given to the Cancer Society.
