Deborah Kay Millett

Deborah Kay Millett, a vibrant and adventurous soul, passed away peacefully after a valiant battle with cancer on July 12, 2025, at the age of 70. Born on April 9, 1955 in Cedar City, Utah, Deborah lived a life marked by strength, resilience, creativity, and a deep love for those around her. Debbie was a proud graduate of Hurricane High School in 1973 where she was active on the drill team and in rodeo. She continued her education at Evans Hairstyling College and graduated in 1978, laying the foundation for a successful career. Her entrepreneurial spirit shone brightly as she became the owner of her own hair salon, a bustling establishment that employed seven dedicated individuals. With her caring spirit, she had a very devoted clientele. Beyond her professional achievements, Debbie was a woman of diverse passions. She held a special place in her heart for animals, particularly dogs and horses, and found joy and companionship in their presence. Her beloved horse, Wendy Piute, was a constant companion. The loves of her life were her cherished dogs. She raised and treasured every one of them, especially Tiny. In 1972, Debbie married Paul Millett. Together they had three children- Melissa, Lisa, and Daryl- whom she loved fiercely and supported endlessly. Though they later divorced, she remained dedicated to her family throughout her life. A truly talented artist, she loved macrame, making jewelry, sewing, and painting. Deb sewed over a hundred Christmas towels that she shared with her family. She was renowned for her unique landscape paintings, often created on unconventional canvases like saw blades, showcasing her love of nature. Deb loved flowers and often included them in her paintings. Throughout her life, Deb called many places home, residing in Hurricane, Cedar City, and Toquerville Utah, as well as Mesquite Nevada, and Littlefield Arizona, with a brief stint in Indiana. Each location added to the richness of her life. In 2007, Debbie met her sweetheart Elmer Allen. Together, they embraced life’s adventures, spending their days RVing, dancing, hiking, going for rides on his motorcycle, and just enjoying the simple joys of companionship and laughter. Their bond brought her great happiness in her later years. Described by friends and family as adventurous, strong, and a truly good friend, Deb was known for her giving nature and spontaneous approach to life. She had a smile that would light up a room. Deb touched many lives with her warmth and unwavering spirit. Debbie is preceded in death by her daughter, Melissa, and her beloved father, Cal Gubler. She is survived by the love of her life, Elmer Allen, and her devoted mother, Anna May Wright. She leaves behind her cherished children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Caleen (Wayne) Olsen, and four brothers; Mike (Sandy) Gubler, Lance (Marvene) Gubler, Troy (Debbie) Gubler, and Ty (Cami) Gubler. Her presence will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. A graveside service to honor Deborah's life will be held at 9:00 am on Monday, July 28, 2025, at the Hurricane City Cemetery. A light brunch will be held after the service, located at the church on 70 South 300 West in La Verkin.
