Donna Boam

Ivins, Utah, Donna Rae Gordon Boam, 79 - loving mother, grandma and sister passed away on May 22, 2013 in St. George, Utah, from complications of rheumatoid arthritis. Donna was born on October 25, 1933, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Don and Verona Gordon. She went to local Salt Lake schools and graduated with a BA in secondary education from the University of Utah. She taught for a short time at East High. She married Richard Cummings in August of 1954. They had two children, Catherine and James. In their early marriage they lived in Japan, Hawaii and Germany, afterwards they returned to Palo Alto, where Richard got his PhD. Donna and her good friend, Carole Coombs started Bel Viso a cosmetic and color company that beautified many Salt Lake women. In 1980 she married Bill Boam in Virginia City, NV. They travelled to Greece with some high school friends and later to Europe. They retired to Ivins, Utah and lived in Kayenta. She was on the committee in Kayenta that built the Labyrinth. She loved her dogs, too many to name and animals in general. Donna will be missed by all that knew her. She was a devoted mother to James and Cathy and a secondary mother to Bill’s children. She had 8 grandchildren. She endured several loses before she passed away, her parents, a son, a brother, several aunts and a cousin, who was like a sister. She rediscovered her step sisters and brother; she had a lot of pleasure in their relationship. Donna braved her rheumatoid arthritis for more than 26 years. Her Memorial Service will be held Saturday, June 15, 2013, at 1:00 p.m. at the LDS Chapel, 930 S. Morning Side Dr., St. George UT. Family and friends may share memories at an open house following the service at the Boam home in Kayenta from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers please make a contribution to the St. George Care and Share.
