Elaine Sorensen Renstrom

Loving Wife and Mother In loving memory of our beloved mother and grandmother, Elaine Renstrom, who chose to join her eternal companion on their 62nd anniversary, August 19th, 2016, at the age of 82. She lived a life of love, service, and unselfishness. Honesty and unconditional love are her legacy. Born in Sutherland, Utah on January 7, 1934 to Ivan and Tanetta Sorensen. She often shared memories of working in the sugar beet fields and chasing jack rabbits in the sand dunes. She graduated from Delta High School where she was a cheerleader. Her dream of attending Brigham Young University came true after her father gave her permission to sell her horse to fund her first year’s tuition. At BYU she was a member of the Deltones trio and became an important contributor to the founding of the Program Bureau. BYU was also where she met the love of her life, Bryan J. Renstrom. They were married for eternity in the Salt Lake Temple on August 19, 1954. She is survived by her three daughters and seven grandchildren, Debora Smith (David), David Bryan, Matthew, and Lindsey; Shauna Blackham (Scotty), Kristopher Glaittli and Danielle Schow (Cory); Tamara Renstrom, Diana Duke (Kyle), Jayson Frandsen and eight great-grandchildren: Colton, Khloe, Izzabella Lainee, Kylee and Gabriella Duke; Peyton, Shierstyn, and Jocelyn Elaine Schow. She is also survived by one sister, Barbara Christensen. She was preceded into eternity by her husband, Bryan J. Renstrom, her parents, Ivan and Tanetta Sorensen, sister Joan Harrison, and grandson Kyle Duke. Her lifelong passions were her husband and family, serving the Lord and spending time with her grandchildren who will greatly miss her loving advice. A faithful member of the LDS Church, Elaine served in numerous callings including Stake Young Women’s President and Stake Primary President. She touched the lives of countless people including those of her nieces and nephews. Life with mom was heaven. We love you with all our hearts and will miss you until we meet again for eternity, your family. A celebration of her life will be held graveside August 25, 2016 at the Huntsville City Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. where she will be laid to rest next to her eternal companion. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions be made to the Missionary Fund of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
