Floyd LeRoy Memmott

Floyd LeRoy Memmott, 90, passed away Sunday, April 6, 2025 in St. George, Utah, from natural causes. He was born October 7, 1934 in Delta, Utah, to Clinton LeRoy Memmott and Neva Bishop Memmott. He married Carol Dawn Emery in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on September 1, 1955. They were married 69 years. Floyd was always a do-it-yourselfer who loved to work on cars, finish basements, build decks and sheds, roof the house, and do many other handyman jobs to keep his homes in top shape. He was also very creative. Floyd spent time painting ceramics, whittling figurines, and carving gourds. While living in Granite, Utah, Floyd always had a huge garden he loved to tend which produced lots of fresh vegetables for canning. Fall was his favorite season because it meant hunting. He would grab his guns and his horse and go chasing deer and elk to fill the freezer with meat. For most of his life, Floyd was a salesman, selling insurance as well as office machines and copiers in Salt Lake City, Denver, and Grand Junction. Later in life he owned The Power Shop in Boise, Idaho, where he sold and serviced high-end lawn mowers and snow blowers. Floyd worked briefly just before retirement at BYU in the grounds department, buying parts and servicing their machines. He also served 13 years in the Utah National Guard. For 18 months, Floyd and Carol served as LDS missionaries at the Winter Quarters Visitor Center, hosting tours. Floyd also served as a Branch President in a senior branch in Washington, Utah. Floyd is survived by his four children: Kyle W Memmott (Karla), Tori Bahoravitch (Timothy “Bo”), Lance L Memmott (Debra), and Jason J Memmott (Melinda); 15 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Darrell Memmott. Floyd was preceded in death by his spouse, Carol, by just 2 ½ weeks–he just couldn’t wait to be together again. His parents, Clinton and Neva, and his sister Darlene Hillmon, also preceded him. Gratitude is expressed to the excellent staff at Spring Gardens Assisted Living, Enhabit Hospice, and Serenity Funeral Home of Southern Utah for their loving care of Floyd and his family. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at 2:00 pm at the American Fork City Cemetery, 26 W 600 N, American Fork, UT 84003.
