Judith DeMille

Judith DeMille was born to Fredrick and Winifred Reynolds of Brownfield, Maine on June 20, 1946. She graduated from Fryeburg Academy in 1964 and moved to Boston to study Marine Biology at Boston University. She married James Oliver in 1967 and had 3 children: Jama, Jotham and Jonathan, all of whom she cherished and loved dearly. Although she and James eventually divorced, they remained dear friends. She married Dwight DeMille in the St. George temple May 21, 1981. It was difficult to leave her beloved state of Maine, but the wonderful people of Rockville, Utah quickly made her feel welcome and Rockville became her second home. Judith and Dwight had a daughter named Emily. Dwight adored Judith and remained by her side until she passed away on August 18, 2022. Judith’s father was her hero and favorite person in the world. He taught her about shooting, hunting, fishing, and appreciating the world around her. As a child she would defend the defenseless and take on the bullies. Her fiery streak stayed with her throughout her life. Judith seemed to know every back road. She loved wildflowers and could identify every flower she saw on the side of the road. She was a fantastic baker whose chocolate chip cookies were unparalleled. If a recipe didn’t come out right the first time, she would make it over and over until it was perfected. She had a green thumb and grew gorgeous gardens and window boxes. She could talk to anyone about anything and was constantly making friends in grocery stores, restaurants, or around town. She loved the English language and was sure to let you know if you weren’t using it correctly. She spent her life dedicated to making her family happy. She would wake up early to make your favorite breakfast just because she loved seeing you happy. She had an unwavering faith in the gospel of Jesus Christ. She never doubted that she would be returning to her Heavenly Father at the end of this life. Judith is survived by her devoted husband, Dwight DeMille; beloved children, Jama (Kevin) Hutchins, Jotham Oliver, Jonathan Oliver, Emily (Dan) Harmer; and 7 grandchildren whom she adored: Cidnie (Connor), Macks, Gage, Hana, Autumn, Elias, and Summer. A graveside service will be held at the Rockville, Utah Cemetery at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 27, 2022. Following the service there will be an informal celebration of life at the Rockville Park Pavilion.
