Judith Ann Sapio

Judith Ann Sapio, 77, passed away March 4, 2017, in St. George, UT. She was born to Beverly and Wesley Wells on July 6, 1939, in LaCrosse, WI. She was the first of five children followed by, Tim, George, Barbara, and John. They were a solid mid-western family. Judy played violin, tenor sax, and piano. She played in the ‘Swing Band’ section in school. As she graduated high school, Judy was Miss Betty Crocker for her talent in food preparation and presentation. This served her throughout her life. Judy loved cooking unusual dishes setting the table with fine dishes, table cloths, and eating utensils. An introvert, she established super dining atmosphere so the extroverts could have fun. Judy was married to Bill Lathrop and they had three fabulous children: Bill (Dorothy), Kathy (Mark) Miskovic, and Brian (Shelly). Judy worked a variety of jobs until finally finding her niche as an executive secretary in the Biology, Science and Math departments at the University of Wisconsin in LaCrosse. After her divorce from Bill, Judy met Pat who was teaching at UWL and they married on March 9 and 10 of 1979. (Judy gets two presents each year). Two different step families began loving and respecting each other. Pat has three sons, Joseph, Terry and David Sapio. While Judy was working at UWL, she began to get into the acting scene at the LaCrosse Play House Theatre. Here this quiet introvert exhibited perfect timing in her various roles and won three Dionysus awards. Judy was also a superb photographer and took many, many pictures on their travels to the Caribbean, Alaska, Hawaii, Italy, and Canada. Judy’s real fame is her artistry. She has painted, sewn her own and pat’s clothes, learned the art of origami, made an assortment of flowers for the annual Spring Show at the Sky Mtn., HOA, and lastly, she has mastered the art of coloring, creating hundreds of super pages. Her home was her castle and she loved every second of it. If Pat was hanging around too long, she’d ask, “Don’t you have a meeting to go to somewhere?” Judy came from love. She gave and received love and now will be praying and guiding us all as we continue our paths. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, April 29, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. at the Gardner Center at Dixie State University. A lunch will follow. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Dixie Regional Medical Center “Live Well Department” or the Dixie State University “Institute for Continued learning”, or the St. George Senior Center.
