Kamie Kathleen Jacobsen

Kamie Kathleen Jacobsen returned to her heavenly home on Christmas morning, December 25, 2022, in Reno, Nevada, at the age of 48. Our beloved daughter Kamie was born at the South Davis Community Hospital in Bountiful, Utah, to Charles Barry Jacobsen and Kathleen Renshaw Jacobsen on July 10, 1974. She was the fourth child and the first daughter of six children. Surrounded by brothers, she happily welcomed her sister, Kim, who was the youngest of the six children and who adored her big sis. Kamie, being continually teased by her brothers, was so grateful to have a little sister to help her stand her ground. Kamie grew up in Mountain Green, Utah. As a child, she was such a bright light straight from heaven and was loved by everyone who knew her. She was adventurous and enjoyed going down to the nearby creek with her siblings and friends to catch water snakes, tadpoles and every other creature most girls were afraid of. Kamie was especially fond of horses. She loved her puppies, kitties, parakeets and cockatiels. She enjoyed drawing and painting pictures of her animals, as well as, fish, whales and dolphins. Family vacations were her favorite! Even though sometimes there were six kids crammed into a small camper on occasion. Family vacations to Sea World and Hawaii gave her a special love of the ocean and its sea life. She would say, "I want to be a Marine Biologist someday!" Kamie loved Christmas, birthdays and special holidays with family and friends. Growing up, Kamie took dancing and karate lessons. One of her many talents, were playing the recorder, kazoo and the flute. Some of her many hobbies were riding her brother's dirt bikes, target practice, fishing, and hiking. She was always ready to try something new, especially if it was outdoors. She attended Morgan Elementary School and Morgan Junior High. She worked hard, receiving high academic grades, and always making friends along the way. During Kamie's junior high school years her family moved to Bloomington in St. George, Utah. She attended Pine View Junior High and then she graduated from Pine View High Seminary and Pine View High School in 1992. In her senior year, Kamie was honored to receive the prestigious sterling scholar award in art. She was also the statistician for Pine View High's wrestling team, which two of her brothers Chris and Todd were members. Kamie dated frequently during high school and went to many school proms. She was always very lovely inside and out. She never felt entitled, she was grateful for all she had. When high school graduation day came, Kamie and her friend, Travis, rode their horses to school to sign yearbooks with their classmates. It was just something she would do to make people smile -- like running and jumping in our swimming pool at home after school, with her school clothes still on, just because she was so hot. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and loved the Lord with her whole heart, continually being an example of christlike love, and sharing her testimony to all who knew her throughout her life. Kamie loved and honored her parents, siblings and grandparents. She was definitely Daddy's little girl, and was such a joy to be around. She had many family and friends who loved her big radiating smile, and a laugh that warmed their hearts. She loved music of all kinds, but especially country music. Her lifelong dream of owning her own horse came true one day when her Dad bought her Diamond. A beautiful Bay Mare with a diamond on her forehead. Now she was truly a cowgirl! Oh how she loved her beautiful horse! She would ride bareback or with a saddle, it didn't matter, she was fearless and so beautiful in her cowgirl hat with her gorgeous long flowing hair blowing in the breeze. Riding with her mom, her sister, Kim, and their friends was her favorite thing to do. She laughed and smiled every minute making memories along the way. At the Dixie Roundup Rodeo she met Derick Blake. They started dating, fell in love and were married on February 6, 1993. They were later married in the St. George Temple. Their years together brought happiness and everything that Kamie loved in life. Her and Derick wasted no time bringing into this world four wonderful sons, Elijah, David, Benjamin and Daniel. Kamie's greatest joy was being a wife and a mother of boys. Kamie enjoyed her time riding four wheelers and horses, feeding cows, and spending time at the Blake Family Ranch. Derick and Kamie raised chickens, cows and goats. She would milk their goats for her babies who couldn't drink formula. She was a meticulous housekeeper. She taught her boys to care for many stray kittens, and how to love every one of God's creations. Kamie encouraged her children to be kind, and love the Lord, and to do and be everything they aspired to be. After many years, Kamie and Derick divorced. She later married Orlando Ortega and they had another son Samuel Alex. They were divorced before Alex was born. Kamie went back to school and received her CNA certification and she worked at Dixie Regional Hospital. She also earned a certification as an ESL teacher at Dixie College teaching English as a second language. She wrote educational articles for the Spectrum Newspaper in St. George and in many other venues in Nevada. She loved writing poems. Kamie was extremely multitalented, organized and motivated to always be her best self. She struggled with her health, because she had autoimmune diseases, but she never complained. She was always determined to try and be the best in everything she was able to accomplish in this life. Even though she continually struggled daily with her declining health. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, niece and friend. We all feel her love every day, and feel so blessed to have had her in our lives. She will be dearly missed in this earthly existence, until we see her again in Heaven. We're grateful for eternal families! Heaven has surely gained another angel. Kamie is survived by her parents: father, Charles Barry Jacobsen (Linda), mother, Kathleen Renshaw Taylor (Robert), her siblings: Shaun Jacobsen (Joelle), Christopher Jacobsen (Coquette), Todd Jacobsen (Angie), Scott Jacobsen, Kimberly Jacobsen Whitney (Brandon), Kamie's sons: Elijah Blake (Mikaela), David Blake (Sarah), Benjamin Blake (Christee), Daniel Blake (Allison), Samuel Alex Snow, two granddaughter's: Kimberly and Norma Blake. As well as, many Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. Kamie was preceded in death by her grandfather Marvin E. Jacobsen, grandparents Claude H. and Ethel Renshaw, grandmother Jonnie Johnson Hansen, and uncle Jerry Jacobsen. A graveside service was held on January 14, 2023, at the Santa Clara City Cemetery, in Santa Clara, Utah with her oldest brother, Shaun Jacobsen, officiating, Kamie's brother, Todd Jacobsen, gave the opening prayer and Kamie's father, Charles Barry Jacobsen, dedicated her grave. Following her graveside service, a “Celebration of Life" took place at the Staheli Farm in Washington, Utah. It was wonderful with family and friends! Beautifully decorated by her sister Kim and niece Alexis, with butterflies everywhere. Kamie's drawings, photos, her prom and blessing dresses, cowgirl hat and spurs were on display and a video presentation of her life was shown. Many people stood up and shared their stories and memories of Kamie. We had great food prepared by Joelle Jacobsen and her mother. All of us wore casual clothing -- just what Kamie would have wanted! She requested her favorite song, "I Can Only Imagine" that was sung and accompanied by her oldest son Elijah Blake on his guitar and her Stepfather Robert Taylor. The sweet ending to her celebration was watching all the balloons we each released rising towards the clouds. They formed a heart and then a butterfly in the sky. We all made wishes, sending them to Heaven. Rest in love Kamie. We would especially like to thank Serenity Funeral Home of Southern Utah for their kindness, help and support of taking care of our beloved Kamie Kathleen.
