Keith Burden

WASHINGTON, UT - W. Keith Burden, age 60, passed away on April 11, 2018. He was born on April 19, 1957 to Arthur Ray and Martha Catherine Burden in San Francisco, California. Keith met the love of his life, Erica, in Pleasanton, CA and the two were married for all eternity on July 21, 1979 in the LDS Temple in Oakland, California. Keith was the fourth of six children in the Burden family. He grew up in Dublin, California where he attended Dublin High School and spent time doing things he loved including raising seep with 4-H, cross-country and track and field teams. At age 18 Keith joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and one year later he spent 2 years serving as a full-time missionary in Washington D.C. When Keith and Erica were married they spent time living in Northern California and Utah before finally settling into Huntington Beach, California to raise their children. Keith valued his career with Deseret Industries working as a Store Manager where he was involved in training challenged employees to help them develop skills to improve their independence and abilities. Keith’s family and church life was of the utmost importance to him. His children and grandchildren brought him unparalleled joy throughout his life. His wife, Erica, was the light of his life and was a fixture by his side through all of the struggles and triumphs his life had to offer. Keith is survived by his wife, Erica; his children, Valerie of Washington, UT, Aaron (Lylah) of Carlsbad, CA, Amanda (Steve) of Cedar City, UT, Heather (Kevin) of Citrus Heights, CA, Jared (Mallory) of Anaheim, CA and Nathan of Cedar City, UT; grandchildren, James, Piper, Noah, Brecken, Ashton, Maverick and Baby Boy Burden (expected July 2018); siblings, Sylvia of Eureka, CA, Franklin of Turlock, CA, Ray of Casper, WY and Darrell of Eureka, CA. Keith is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Ray and Martha Catherine; his brother, Steven. The family would like to thank the staff and therapists at Care Meridian, Learning Services, Center for Neuro Skills, Casa Colina, Comfort Keepers, Kind Hearts, Visiting Angels, Amada, and Suntree for the countless hours of devotion and kindness in the rehabilitation efforts for Keith following his traumatic brain injury in September 2013. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 19th (Keith’s Birthday) at 4:00pm at Washington City Cemetery, 300 Park View Drive, Washington UT. A viewing will precede the Funeral on April 19 from 1-3pm at Serenity Funeral Home, 1316 S 400 E #A3, St. George, UT. A memorial service will be held in Huntington Beach, California on Saturday, April 21st at 3:30pm at the LDS Chapel, Huntington Beach Stake Center, 8702 Atlanta Avenue, Huntington Beach, CA. In lieu of flowers the Burden family will accept donations to be collectively contributed to a Brain Injury Awareness Charity or treatment facility in Keith’s name (specific organization(s) to be determined at a later date).
