LaGrande Imlay

My beloved LaGrande, oh, how I am going to miss you! Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather left us on July 19, 2025, after a wonderful and full life surrounded by family. Born on July 26, 1940, in Hurricane, Utah, to George Wilson and Ina Humphries Imlay. He met his soulmate, Helene Jones, at Jerry's Café, where she was working for the summer. Just back from serving our country in the Navy, LaGrande knew right away that she was the one for him. They tied the knot in the St. George, Utah Temple on August 3, 1962, and were all set to celebrate their 63rd wedding anniversary next week! One of LaGrande's greatest joys was spending time with Helene and their family. He loved mowing lawns with his sons, washing cars, teaching driving lessons, and playing outdoors with his grandkids. The annual Thanksgiving leaf piles were especially fun, with all the hidden treasures he would stash away for his grandkids to find. After briefly working for Hall Brothers and Stratton Brothers, LaGrande started his career as the Produce Manager at Clifton's Market and later, Lin's. Known for his warm demeanor, he always took the time to connect with those who needed a listening ear. Even after retirement, he continued to find joy in his role of running Imlay's Landscaping & Yard Care alongside his sons. He was preceded in death by his parents and several siblings: Raeola, Blaine, Frank, and Barton. LaGrande leaves behind his loving wife Helene, his sons Derek LaGrande (Toni) and Wade Marvin, his grandchildren—Samantha (Shane Sherer), Whitney (Nathan Tuttle), Sydnee (Tyler Bahoravitch), Sierra (Koy Gubler), Connor (Emmalee), Savannah, Riley, Sicily (Zach Howard), Scottland, and Sophie—and 11 wonderful great-grandchildren. Join us in celebrating LaGrande's life on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at the Hurricane North Chapel (1050 North 155 East) in Hurricane, Utah. There will be a viewing from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m., followed by the service at 11:00 a.m. LaGrande will be laid to rest at the Hurricane Cemetery. We invite everyone who knew and loved him to come share in this special day with us!
