Larena Lee Batty

Larena Lee Batty passed away on January 30th, 2022, at the age of 71 in the Neurorestorative nursing home in Riverton, Utah, after a battle with a stroke and cancer. Larena grew up in Virgin, Utah where she spent her childhood swimming in the Virgin River, riding horses with her siblings, and helping out on the farm. Larena attended high school in Hurricane, Utah where she graduated in 1968. She obtained a bachelor's degree from Southern Utah State College in Elementary Education. She taught third grade at Hurricane Elementary where she met her eternal companion, S. Alan Batty from Cedar City. Larena and Alan were married in the St. George, Utah temple in 1982. She was a dedicated mother and was always there for her kids and family. She spent a lot of time taking care of her elderly mother, father, and her in-laws. She was very compassionate and cared for her loved ones whenever they needed help. She loved to spend time with her sisters and would often see them multiple times a week while they took turns caring for their elderly mother. Larena loved to cross stitch and crochet. She loved making quilts, baby blankets, and cross-stitching designs for friends and family. She also spent a lot of time hunting and fishing with her family. Family meant everything to Larena. She loved visiting her two sons and their families and loved to spend time with her grandchildren. She was always willing to help in any way she could and loved being around for big family events. She is preceded in death by her husband Stewart Alan Batty, her mother and father Jessie and Budd Lee and her brother Clayton Lee. She is survived by her sons Craig (Paige), Jess (Morgan), her grandchildren Carter, Jayden, Caleb, Gene, and Heidi Batty. She is also survived by her siblings Allen (Judy), Sharon (Lawrence), Brenda, and Clay’s wife Laurie. Funeral Services will be held Friday, February 11, 2022, at the Hurricane LDS Chapel, 274 S.100 W. Hurricane, Utah at 11:00 a.m. A viewing will be held prior to services at the same location beginning at 9:00 a.m. – 10:45 a.m. Burial will take place at the Hurricane City Cemetery.
