Larry Nelson Myers

Sadly we announce the passing of our husband, father, brother, friend, Larry Nelson Myers, age 78, who passed away at his home in Ivins, UT after a sudden illness on Saturday, July 17, 2021. Larry was born on August 20, 1942 in Lodi, CA to Virginia Louise Nelson and William Howard Myers. Larry is married to Jan Myers. Together they served as missionaries in Guyana, Trinidad, St. George, UT, and Otavalo, Ecuador before retiring in Ivins, UT. Though born in California, Larry’s childhood took him from Puerto Rico to Alaska to Calgary and places in between. So many of Larry’s most precious memories stem from family visits to Mt. Pleasant, UT at the home of his maternal grandparents. Larry attended Western Canada High School in Calgary and the University of Montana, Missoula, MT where he graduated in geology. He then began working with oil companies in Calgary, then on to Denver where he established Calibogue Corp, an oil company. Later in his career he became a real estate broker in Colleyville, TX where he worked in real estate for 24 years prior to serving with Jan as a Senior Missionary for 9 years for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Larry is survived by his wife, Jan, children Tyson Myers (Shari), Megan Myers (Bob Mueller), Tony Myers (Kelly), Dustin Myers, and step-son Chris Carr (Shelby); grandchildren Madison, Lacey, Jake, Hunter, Logan and Ryker; siblings, Bill Myers (Denise), Nan Myers (Ollie), Melanie Colborne (Howie), Jim Myers (Cyndi), Sue Jacobsen (Vic), Mary Jane Kletke (Don), and many young friends who call him “Grandpa.” Larry was preceded in death by his mother, Virginia Myers; his father, Howard Myers, and his step-daughter, Rachel Carr. Larry has chosen to have his ashes interred next to his daughter, Rachel, in the Grapevine Cemetery, Grapevine, TX. A time and location of that celebration of the wonderful man he is and all he means to us will be announced. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Best Friend.
