Loya Warnick

Loya Warnick passed away in her home of many years on February 29, 2020 in Springdale, Utah due to complications following cancer. She was 68 years old. She was born Loya Marie Cope on February 29, 1952, in Sun Valley, Idaho to her parents, Clara and Grant Cope. Loya attended college at Southern Utah State College and then transferred to Utah State University, and married Ron Warnick soon after - moving to Montana where they raised cows for milk, sheep for wool, while raising two children - always maintaining an warm artistic presence in the community. After many years of dairy work and life changes, she found her way back to southern Utah, providing care for her mother in the later years of her life. Loya was a loving mother, a skilled artist and confidant to many throughout her life. She was a longtime lover of nature and the outdoors, and the quiet stillness that came with it. She understood the value of listening more than talking, and the value of providing understanding and warmth for people when they most need it. There are not words enough to say everything that matters, and the nearest words seem to be her own: “Let go of what’s gone, be grateful for what remains. Look forward to what’s to come - because eventually you’ll end up where you need to be, with who you’re meant to be with, and doing what you should be doing. Have faith and hope. What is meant for you will not pass you by.” She was a caretaker and a friend to those who knew her, and she will be deeply missed. Loya is survived by: her daughter, Cary Warnick Decker of Vail, AZ; her son, Scott Warnick, of Spokane, WA; her brothers, Frank and Darren Cope; her sisters Claire Linn Ellis and Vicki Heaton; and two loving grandchildren, Isaac and Adrienne. She was preceded in death by: her brother, Bryan Cope; her sister, Fay Cope; her mother, Clara Cope and her father, Grant Cope. A memorial wake will take place on Saturday, March 7, 2020, at 1:00 p.m., at the Cable Mountain Lodge, in Springdale, UT. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Loya’s life.
