Michael "Mike" Joseph Ellsworth

Michael “Mike” Joseph Ellsworth passed away peacefully on Monday, March 10th at his home in St. George, UT after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Mike was surrounded by his beautiful wife Linda and loving family as he returned home to his Heavenly Father. Mike was born April 3, 1963, in La Jolla, California to his parents Byron and Barbara Ellsworth. Mike had one sibling, his sister Terri (Ellsworth) Brewton. Mike grew up in San Diego, California where he met his wife, high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Linda. They were sealed for time and all eternity in the Los Angeles California Temple on June 21, 1984. They spent 43 wonderful years together. During this time, they welcomed two loving daughters, Heather Leanne Ellsworth and Heidi Nicole Ellsworth. He later became a proud grandpa to his two granddaughters, Lilly and Ruby. Mike was a skilled and respected mechanic that found his love of cars working on his own VW Bug as a teenager. This hobby led him to a successful career working as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic both in San Diego, California and St. George, Utah. In his later years he found enjoyment working on dune buggies and ATV’s which set into motion a new business venture. He was an exceptional teacher that was generous with his knowledge with those around him. He had a great love of music and loved playing the guitar and other instruments for his family. He was very active in the scouting program throughout his life as well as holding various church callings he was asked to serve in. One of his greatest passions was coaching girls softball where he was fondly known as “Coach Mike”. Mike’s greatest accomplishment in his life was his family. His favorite titles were “Dad” and "Papa”. Some of his most cherished moments were spending time with his family and was so proud of their achievements. He never missed a moment to share a funny story or memory involving his grand girls whenever he had the chance. Mike was loved by so many and was the first one to offer his help to those in need. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him. Mike is survived by his wife Linda Ellsworth, two daughters Heather (Miguel) Arias and Heidi (Logan) Mathis, two granddaughters Lillyana Arias and Ruby Arias, his sister Terri (Wayne) Brewton, mother-in-law Joanne Hilditch, brother-in-law John (Pat) Hilditch, and nieces and nephews Jessica (Will), Sheila and Brian. He is preceded in death by his beloved parent Byron and Barbara and his father-in-law Fred Hilditch. Services will be held Monday, March 17th at the LDS Stake Center located at 1130 E Brigham Road, St George, UT 84790. There will be a viewing at 10:00 am and funeral services will begin at 11:00 am. Graveside services will be held at Tonaquint Cemetery, 1777 S Dixie Dr. St George, UT 84770 following the funeral. The family would like to thank all the doctors and nurses in the Cancer Center at St. George Regional Hospital. A special thank you to his Oncologist Dr. Lincoln Nadauld who treated him through his courageous battle with cancer. Each of you brought so much joy and comfort to him during his treatments and throughout his journey.
