Myrna K Copley

Myrna Kay Copley of St. George, UT, passed away on April 12, 2015, in St. George, Utah surrounded by the many loving members of her family. She was born May 7, 1940, in Twin Falls, Idaho to Earl O’Dell and Maxine Jeanette Wendell Johansen. Myrna graduated from Kimberly High School, Kimberly, Idaho. Myrna moved to California in 1958 and attended Monterey Peninsula Junior College in Monterey, California. While attending college she met her soul mate, Jim. They were married on November 11, 1959, in Watsonville, California. They were happily married for fifty-seven years. After living in California for several years, she and Jim moved to Boise, Idaho, where they resided for more than ten years. During their married life they lived in California, Arizona, Utah as well as two years in Guam. They remained in Utah until her death. While raising their five children, Myrna completed her college degree at San Francisco State University receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics. Her career started in California where she was vice president of Consumer Credit Counseling in Oakland, Phoenix, Arizona and then back to California in San Diego. While living in Utah, Myrna was a 4-H Extension Agent for Millard County. Myrna and Jim enjoyed traveling throughout the country, as well as in Europe and the South Pacific. In more recent years they traveled throughout the US in their RV. She is survived by her husband, James “Jim” Gordon Copley; and their five children, Gregory J. (Kathy) Copley, Douglas P. Copley; Vicki K. (Newell) Cumming, Robert E. (Samantha) Copley, and Eric J. Copley; Myrna is also survived by 13 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren; and her brother Earl “Butch” Johansen. Memorial services for will be held on Thursday, April 16, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Serenity Funeral Home of Southern Utah 1316 S. 400 E., St. George, Utah.
