Richard Phaon Truman

Richard Phaon Truman, 89, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, July 29, 2023. He was born June 29, 1934, in Enterprise, UT to Jacob Thomas Truman and Emily Hall. He had 6 brothers and 3 sisters of which he was the baby of the family. He married his high school sweetheart, Lorene Jones, on June 23, 1956, in the St. George, Utah temple. Only 8 months after getting married, he was drafted into the army where he was stationed in Germany for 2 years. After returning home from Germany, he worked for the railroad, and then went to work for Escalante Valley Electric. Because of his experience with Escalante Valley Electric, he was able to accept the job of engineering and building the power system in Enterprise. He finished his career as the electrician and power system manager for the city. He LOVED to run! Starting with the second annual St. George marathon, he ran in every consecutive marathon until the age of 75. He also qualified and ran in 2 Boston Marathons. He was a talented gunsmith and crafted many guns, all of which he loved to test out by shooting them himself. He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many callings. But the calling he loved the most was his mission to Nauvoo, as well as his call to serve as a temple worker in the St. George Temple. He is survived by his eternal sweetheart, Lorene Truman of Enterprise, Utah; his 5 children, VerLene (Kim) Thomas of Enterprise, Douglas (Rachel) Truman of Enterprise, Troy Truman of Enterprise, Lonnie (Tammy) Truman of Santa Clara, and Lane Truman of Caliente, Nevada. He was adored by 22 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. He is proceeded in death by his parents, 5 brothers, and 3 sisters. He has one living brother, Billy Jim Truman of Enterprise. A viewing will be held on Saturday, August 5th, from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm, and funeral services to follow at 1:00 pm at the Enterprise Stake Center, 80 Center St., Enterprise. Interment will take place at the Enterprise City Cemetery with military honors at 565 E 100 N, Enterprise, immediately following the funeral services.
