Robert J. Kvatsak

Robert J. Kvatsak Jr., age 83, of St. George, Utah, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2025. Born on November 27, 1941, in Pittsburgh, PA, to Robert J. Kvatsak Sr. and Alice Joan Kvatsak, Bob’s life was one marked by devotion—to family, country, and the joys of living fully. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps in the 1960s, stationed in Okinawa, Japan. Following his service, he built a career with UPS, where he worked faithfully for over 25 years before enjoying a well-earned retirement. Bob made homes in Chicago, IL, and Denver, CO, before settling into his final chapter in St. George, UT—a place he cherished for its sunshine, community, and scenic golf courses. A man of many passions, Bob found joy in painting, boating, traveling, and cruising—but it was on the golf course where he was truly in his element. Whether sharing stories with friends on the fairway or savoring the peaceful rhythm of the game, golf was one of the great loves of his life. Above all, Bob loved his family deeply. He is survived by his beloved wife of 20 years, Genevieve M. Kvatsak; his children Kenneth (Kristin) Kvatsak of Colorado, and Kristine (Robert) Iverson of Oklahoma; his stepchildren Deborah (Kenneth) Heisler, Scott (Kirsten) Brayton; and his sisters Beth Crites, Barbara Strohman, Mary Jones, and Debbie Dowd. Bob was blessed with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought light into his life. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Phyllis Illi Kvatsak; his step-son, Tony Brayton; and his grandson, David Heisler. Bob attended Benedictine College in Lisle, Illinois, and lived a life that reflected quiet dignity, commitment, and deep familial love. While he did not seek the spotlight, his impact was felt in the stability and support he offered to those around him. He will be remembered not for loud words, but for the strength of his character and the grace with which he lived, for his stories, his laughter, and his kind and generous spirit. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the doctors and nurses at St. George Regional Hospital for the outstanding care and compassion they showed Bob in his final days. In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations in Bob’s memory to the Blue Butterfly House, a nonprofit co-founded by his step-daughter to support families in the middle of supervised visitation.
