Roberta Jones Blackburn

St. George, Utah — Roberta Jones Blackburn, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on November 15, 2025. She was born on April 15,1936, in Pioche, Nevada, to Jacob Mica Jones and Clarissa May Hunt. Roberta was the third of four children—Gloria, Blaine, and Jerome—and cherished her upbringing in the quiet, close-knit town of Gunlock, Utah. Her father operated the local power plant, and she often recalled with fondness the unique experience of living in the home built directly above it. At age 18, Roberta moved to St. George for a short time before heading to California with friends to begin a new chapter. It was there that she met the love of her life, Joseph Eugene Blackburn. The two were married on June 30, 1963, in Downey, California, and later sealed in the Los Angeles Temple on March 4, 1967, beginning a life together built on love, faith, and devoted partnership. They welcomed three daughters and one son and were blessed with 13 grandchildren, each of whom adored her love and laughter and the way she made every visit special. She also leaves behind three great-grandchildren, with a fourth expected soon all of whom brought her immense happiness in her later years. Roberta created a warm and joyful household wherever she lived. She loved to read, go to the movies, spend time with family, and laugh—something she did often and generously. She had a remarkable sense of humor and delighted in telling stories that brought joy to those around her. Her home was a gathering place where family, friends, and neighbors felt welcomed and loved. Roberta supported her husband through his long career with BF Goodrich where they started in California and ended in New Jersey. When Joe retired, they spent a few years on a ranch in Wyoming and then settled in St. George, Utah. Together they built a legacy of integrity, hard work, and devotion to family and faith. Roberta was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many capacities in the Young Women’s and Relief Society Organizations. She spent many hours serving others as she cleaned their houses, prepared their meals, and took care of their children. She loved the missionaries and fed them every Sunday and sometimes during the week. Roberta is preceded in death by her beloved husband Joseph Eugene Blackburn, grand-daughter Rhiannon, parents Jake & Clarissa, sister Gloria, brother Blaine, and many cherished extended family members. She is survived by her children Jeri (David), Teresa (Sam), Tracy (Scott), Robert (Raya); grandchildren; great-grandchildren; brother Jerome and all who were touched by her warmth, humor, and unwavering love. Her family finds comfort in knowing Roberta and Joe are joyfully reunited, continuing their eternal journey together. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
