Sandrea Kay Sveum

Heaven gained the angel they needed, Sandrea “Kay'' Sveum (80) passed away Thursday January 28th, 2021 in Saint George, Utah surrounded by beloved family. She was born May 13, 1940 in Augusta, Georgia to Hoke Purcell and Estelle Vermilya Hayes. She married Clifford George Sveum in 1960. They had two sons that she is very proud of, James Hoke Sveum (Carole) of Vacaville, CA and Dale Curtis Sveum (Darlene) of Scottsdale, AZ. She had a very special relationship with her twin sister's daughter Tammi McMullin (Dana) and their children Garrett (Aryn) & Jaden of St. George, UT. She worked for Pacific Bell (AT&T) as a Systems Technology Programmer in San Francisco, CA and retired in December of 1992. She enjoyed traveling, swing dancing, playing bingo and poker, Elvis impersonator shows, family get-togethers and cooking. Kay lived most of her life in the Northern California, Bay Area – She lived in Vallejo for a number of years, Richmond, San Pablo and Pinole – she graduated from Richmond High School in 1958. Later she lived in Chula Vista, CA, Scottsdale, AZ and the last several years in St. George, UT. She will be remembered for her hospitality of her family, friends, Jimmy and Dale’s friends, hosting many Christmas Eve parties with lots of food, spirits, fun and special gifts for all. Her proudest accomplishment would be raising her sons and is very proud of the men they are today. She raised several poodles over the years Louie, Princess, Pierre & Rocky. Kay has and always will be a loving and caring soul to so many. We will miss her laugh and the genuine love she shared with each and every person. She is survived by her sons Jimmy and Dale, five grandchildren Amber, Chelsea, Dillon (Jimmy) Brittane, Rustin (Dale) and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband George, her twin sister Fay, her parents Hoke and Estelle Purcell, her sisters Dorothy “Dot” Stephens, Irene Whitney, her brother James Purcell and her niece Randi Mueller. The family would like to express their gratitude to several St. George Assisted Living facilities and caregivers for their wonderful care and support. The Meadows, Beehive Homes at Coral Canyon, Bella Terra, Southern Comfort Home Health and Community Nursing Services (CNS) Home Health and Hospice, Dr. Grant Needham, Dr. Jason Hansen and Dr Joshua Frame. Your wings were ready but our hearts were not.
