Steven R Valentine

Steven R Valentine was born on August 16, 1954, in Brigham City, Utah, to Ted and Donna Valentine. He peacefully returned to his Heavenly Father on April 25, 2026, in St. George at the age of 71. He is the youngest of six boys and has three sisters. He often joked that he had to grow to be the tallest to stand his ground among his five older brothers. At 6’4,” he was blessed with both strength and athletic ability, playing football, basketball, and baseball. A gifted pitcher, he had the opportunity to play semi-professional baseball but chose instead a higher calling-devoting his life to his family as a husband and father. As a young man, while planning to play college baseball, Steve felt the prompting from the Lord to serve a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In faith, he answered, serving valiantly in the Great Australia West Mission from 1974 to1976. His love for the Savior and his testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ became the foundation of his life. He served faithfully in many callings and shared his testimony often, touching the lives of those around him. Prayer was a constant in his life, and he turned to the Lord morning and night with humility and devotion. He met his eternal companion, Paulette Beatty, while attending Dixie College on a baseball scholarship. They were sealed for time and all eternity in the St. George Temple in 1978. Together, they built a life centered on faith, love, and family, and were blessed with over 47 years of marriage. Steve built a successful career working on the Space Shuttle program and medically retired in 2003. He also worked at Autolive for several years. Above all his greatest joy was his family. He and Paulette raised their three children-Jed, Talease, and Mariann-in Tremonton, Utah. He could often be found in the bleachers, faithfully supporting and cheering on his children. He moved back to southern Utah after retiring in 2005. His children were a great joy to him, and his grandchildren were a sacred blessing who brought him deep happiness and light. They were truly one of the greatest treasures of his life. Steve had a deep love for the outdoors and found peace in hunting, fishing, and being in nature. He will be remembered for his quick wit, playful teasing, and grit for storytelling, as well as the way he made others feel seen and loved. He is survived by his beloved wife, Paulette; his daughters Talease (Shane) Perkins and Mariann (Nathan) Thomas; and his daughter-in-law, Katie Valentine. He is also survived by nine cherished grandchildren; Lucas, Kody, Ryker, and Hadley Valentine; Talon, Mia, and Eli Thomas; and Tyce and Navy Perkins as well as his brothers, Ted, Kent, and Jeff, and sisters Thetis and Donna Jean. He was welcomed home by his son, Jedediah; his parents, Ted and Donna Valentine; his brothers, Mark and Kelly, and his sister, Judy. We find peace in knowing that families are eternal and that through Jesus Christ, we will see him again. A memorial graveside service will be held Friday, May 1, at 1:30 p.m. at Hurricane City Cemetery.
