Susan Brown Lowder

After a courageous battle with leukemia, Susan Brown Lowder, 53, returned home to her loving Heavenly Father July 9, 2022, at her home in Washington City, Utah. She endured this fight with grace and courage, all while keeping a contagious smile on her face, and continually asking what she could do to help those around her. Susan was born February 6, 1969, in Logan, Utah, to Thayle Brown and LaRue Thurston Brown. She grew up in Hyrum, Utah. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She had a very strong testimony and loved serving in the church in various callings. While growing up and attending school in Hyrum Utah, she ultimately graduated from Mountain Crest High School in 1987 and would then further pursue her education while studying Fashion Design, Interior Design and Marketing at Utah State University, graduating with a bachelor’s degree. She was an Adjunct Professor at Dixie State College and a Business and Marketing Teacher at Bridgerland Technical College. Towards the end of her life, what brought her tremendous joy, was being the Librarian at Coral Canyon Elementary, in Washington County School District. Susan would do anything for her children who were the light of her life, and were a constant source of happiness. Susan’s first son, Kaden Max Hartle, made her a mother and she immediately embraced this role. She then welcomed a daughter, Karissa Nichole Hartle, followed with another son, Taylor Lee Gower. Susan found true joy in being a mother to her children and cherished every moment with them. Susan married the love of her life Richard Jeff Lowder on February 5, 2016. This love story really started long before this when they met in high school. Life took them in separate directions for a time, but obviously had plans to bring them back together, and as a bonus she gained four new daughters, MiKayli Ann Hedrick, Lauren Dawn Lowder, Madison Mae Lowder and Avery Tate Lowder. Susan and Jeff loved spending time together, whether it was traveling to exciting new places to make memories, or small simple date nights close to home, it didn’t matter, as long as they were together. Susan developed many talents in her life. Whether it was her great decorating skills, her eye for photography, or her love of teaching and being an example to the many students she interacted with. Above all, perhaps her best talent was her ability to always smile, and make new friends anywhere she went. Susan’s “Glittering” personality will be remembered by all. Her many friends can’t say enough about how she can light up the room, plan a party and was such an amazing friend. Susan is survived by: her husband, Jeff; three children, Kaden Max, Karissa and Taylor and four stepchildren, MiKayli (Zach), Lauren Lowder (Garrett Roskelley), Madison and Avery; her Parents Thayle & LaRue Brown; Sister Jeanene (Paul) Randle; Brothers Brian (Kristen) Brown, Jeff (Marie) Brown, Keith (Lynzee) Brown. Grandma Susan has six grandchildren with one on the way. Susan was preceded in death by: her brother James Frank Brown; Paternal Grandparents Sylvia & Farren Brown; Maternal Grandparents Frank & Rhoda Thurston; father-in-law Richard Dean Lowder Funeral services will be held Monday, July 18, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at the Warm Springs LDS Chapel. 860 Fairway Dr., Washington, UT. A visitation will be held Sunday evening, July 17, 2022, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Serenity Funeral Home of Southern Utah, 1316 S. 400 E., St. George, UT. A visitation will also be held prior to the service on Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the chapel. Interment will take place at the Brigham City Cemetery on Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. A viewing will also be held Tuesday, from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. at the Brigham City 23rd Ward, 620 N. 300 E., Brigham City, UT.
