Terry Lee Nichols

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Terry Nichols on August 27th, 2024. Terry was born on February 9th, 1951, in Gregory, South Dakota, and he lived a life filled with love, kindness, and unwavering dedication to his family and community. Terry was the beloved husband of Linda Marie Nichols for 52 years. Together, they built a life full of cherished memories. He was a devoted father to five children, who will forever carry his lessons and love in their hearts. A man of great character and integrity, Terry dedicated 50 years to the collision repair industry as a business owner, technician, and educator. He was respected by his colleagues and admired for his work ethic, knowledge, and skill. His integrity was unmatched, and Terry showed deep kindness and humility in his day-to-day interactions. His contributions as an educator and industry leader will be remembered by many. Beyond his professional life, Terry had a passion for his family, learning, teaching, and mentorship. One of his greatest joys was being a father and grandparent. He spent countless hours listening and talking about any subject. He found joy in rock jewelry making, collecting coins, fishing, and metal detecting, and his enthusiasm for genealogy led to many long and joyous reunions of long-lost relationships. Terry’s life was a testament to the values he held dear—love, compassion, and a commitment to helping others. His legacy will live on through the many lives he touched. Terry is survived by his wife, Linda; his children, Kim (Mike) Aller, Russell (Christa) Nichols, Brian (Kristy) Nichols, Daniel (Dava) Nichols; and his grandchildren, Jessica (Zac) Dye, Nathan, Megan, and Amanda Merrill, Sarah and Nick Aller, Shelby (Collin) Lange, Gabe, Savannah, Judd, Katelynn, Addison, Gavin, Gage, Luke, Devri, Dayson, Declan, and Daylin Nichols; and two great-grandchildren, Emerson and Evelyn Dye. Also, his siblings Bridget (Hank) Morgan, Diane (George) Mayda on his mother’s side. And his siblings from his father’s side Julie, Brian, and Bruce. He is preceded in death by his son, James Nichols, his mother, Connie Gebhart; and his father, Donald Jones. The family will celebrate and memorialize Terry’s life at a private ceremony at a later time. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, as Terry faced a long and courageous battle with the disease. Terry Nichols will be deeply missed, but his spirit will continue to inspire and guide all who knew and loved him.
