Yolanda Tengono

Yolanda Tengono, age 76, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2025, in Ivins, Utah. She was born on July 27, 1949, to Emma Barrera and Juan Sanchez in Bogotá, Colombia. Yolanda married her beloved husband, Gonzalo Tengono, on December 21, 1968, in Bogotá, Colombia, and together they built a beautiful life filled with love, faith, and family. Yolanda was raised in San Carlos, Bogotá, Colombia, where she developed her lifelong love of family and learning. Over the years, she lived in Orange County, California, Salt Lake City, Utah, and eventually made her home in St. George, Utah, where she spent her later years surrounded by family and the natural beauty she cherished. A devoted stay-at-home mother and entrepreneur, Yolanda also worked as a bookkeeper and accountant for the family business. She took great pride in balancing both her professional and family life with dedication and grace. Her hobbies included gardening, and she was known for her beautiful home filled with lush plants and vibrant flowers. She was deeply interested in health and wellness and practiced homeopathy, always seeking natural ways to care for herself and others. Yolanda was a woman of faith and a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Yolanda is survived by her loving husband, Gonzalo Tengono; her children John Alejandro, Gonzalo Jr., and Kathryn; her seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and her nine siblings four brothers and five sisters. She was preceded in death by two brothers, who now welcome her with open arms. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at 1:00 p.m., at the Snow Canyon LDS Chapel located at 1625 Lava Flow Drive, St. George, Utah. A viewing will be held prior to services from 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at the same location.
