Duane Edward Beecher age 89 passed away Monday evening July 27, 2020 peacefully at his home in Hurricane Utah. Duane was born Sept 23, 1930 in Ogden Utah to Orman Paul Beecher and Mary Louise Braegger. Duane met his sweetheart HelenLouise Knott in a square dance class which they both attended at Weber State College. On Dec 17th 1951 they were sealed in the Manti Temple, after driving through a white knuckle blizzard through Sardine Canyon to get there. Duane grew up in Ogden Utah. He attended Ogden High School, Weber State College and then completed his Doctorate degree in engineering at University of Utah. After college, Duane and Helen moved to Los Angeles, California where Duane went to work at Hughes Aircraft as an engineer. Duane later started his own electronics business in the 60’s where he manufactured white noise generators, he sold many of these units to the US military and various commercial businesses. Duane was quite the entrepreneur. Duane enjoyed the outdoors. He was a avid hiker, snow skier, photographer, and perfectionist, he did everything to the very best of his ability, and then tried to improve on that. Duane had a love for ham radio and loved to speak to people all over the world. Duane moved his family and business to Hurricane Utah in 1974 and took up farming also. He was actively involved in the community, and served on the Hurricane planning commission for 19 years. He loved his community. Duane had a great love for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Saints. He held many positions in the church, including stake missionary in Southern California, being 1st counselor in his ward bishopric, he was the stake Sunday school president, and stake financial clerk for the Hurricane Utah stake for over 20 years. He loved his ward that he was a member of for the last 45 years. Duane is survived by his wife HelenLouise of Hurricane Utah, and six of his nine children, including; Douglas (Wilyne) Beecher of LaVerkin Utah, John (Peggy) Beecher of Hurricane Utah, Thomas (LaRee) Beecher of Apple Valley Utah, Margaret Beecher of LaVerkin Utah, Matt (Susan) Beecher of Syracuse Utah, Steve (Marnie) Beecher of Washington Utah. 21 Grandchildren and 23 Great Grandchildren. Duane is also survived by his brothers Robert Orman Beecher, Walter (Kathy) Beecher, and a sister Josie Hilman. Duane was preceded in death by his parents, and three of his sons, Glen Beecher, David Beecher, Michael Beecher. Due to covid-19, there will not be a public funeral. There will be a graveside gathering for Duane’s family.
