May 9, 1945 - April 1, 2022
On April 1, 2022, Georgia Ruth Thompson completed her earthly adventure here in mortality, and moved on to her next adventure in her progression to be like our Lord and Savior and our Father in Heaven. We know she was excited about her reunion with her parents, older brother, and grandparents whom she was sealed to for eternity. Her love was for her garden, children, grandchildren and last but not least her sweet husband. Her overriding goal in life was to better understand the sacrifice that our Savior Jesus Christ made for all of us imperfect children of our loving Father in Heaven. She also spent her life showing her love for our Savior Jesus Christ through her actions and personal sacrifices for others. She was not perfect, however, her heart and soul always motivated her to try harder, to be better and to be more like our Savior Jesus Christ. Georgia was Born May 9, 1945, in Littlefield Texas. Georgia was raised in Texas and did ballet and was part of a singing group. She went to Texas A&M, then went to Texas Tech and then transferred to BYU after choosing to become a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. While at BYU she met and married LeRoy Thompson and they married in the SLC temple in 1967. Her first career was as an English teacher. As her family grew, she lived in Texas, California, various parts of Washington, and Utah. She served a mission with LeRoy in Nauvoo, Illinois where she cared for the gardens and grounds and then spent the last 7 years of her life getting to know and serving the people of Virgin, Utah. She died April 1, 2022, in St George, Utah. Georgia’s father was George Lester Parker of Lubbock Texas, and her mother was Geneva Ruth McGhee Short of Midland Texas. She had 2 two brothers, Jimmie Edwin Parker, and Andy Parker. Georgia has three children LeRoy Lester Thompson, Lacey Ruth Beard, and Brent Lee Thompson and 7 grandchildren.
