Keith Lavar Jones

Keith Lavar Jones peacefully passed away December 8th, 2017 in Orem, UT with his loving wife Karalee by his side. Keith was born March 27, 1939 in Virden, New Mexico, the second of six children born to Archie and Ada Jones. Keith had many fond memories of Virden and would frequently talk about his adventures there. The family relocated to Chandler, Arizona where Keith was a multi-sport athlete for Chandler High School. Baseball was his favorite sport and his high school baseball glove was perhaps his most treasured keepsake. Keith was a member of the 1957 state championship baseball team and was inducted into the Chandler Sports Hall of Fame. After high school Keith served an LDS mission in Canada and graduated from Brigham Young University. Keith was briefly married to Mary Buckmiller, they had one son, Ryan. Keith enjoyed working as a stock broker for many years. On October 19th, 1990 Keith married the love of his life, Karalee. Keith not only embraced his new wife but also her three children. From then on there was no talk of Karalee’s kids or Keith’s kids, they always spoke lovingly of their four children. Keith loved being a Grandpa and spent his days creating wonderful memories with all of his grandchildren. Keith and Karalee also loved spending time in the beautiful yards of the homes they lived in. They were also able to travel to many places and experience many of the beautiful and unique settings in the world. Keith is survived by his wife Karalee, son Troy (Kristi) Showell, daughter Tori (Ronald) Robbins, son Ryan (Lindsay) Jones, his grandchildren Jacob, Gavin, Kody, Colton, Kwaylon, Kyle, Sharon, Austin, Aly, Jayde, Jackson, Porter & Talmage; Taylor, Kelsie, Dallin, Rochelle, Owen, Luke, Valerie and Elaine (and many, many others who have been unofficially adopted by Grandpa Keith over the years), great grandchildren Lincoln & Willow, three sisters and two brothers. He is preceded in death by his parents and daughter Traci Rosenbaum. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 16th at the LDS Chapel located at 673 E 300 N, American Fork, UT (immediately south of American Fork High School). The family will be gathering to receive guests before the funeral from 10:00 am – 10:45 am. At a later date a celebration of Keith’s life will be held in St. George, UT. The family requests that no flowers or gifts be sent at this time. Thanks to everyone for their love and support!
