Melvina Moyes

October 2, 1934 - April 13, 2022

Pearl Melvina Farr Moyes, 87, passed April 13, 2022, in Hurricane, Washington County, Utah in the comfort of her own home. She was born on October 2, 1934, in Tucson, Pima County, Arizona to Asael Lorenzo and Vera Carman Bowland Farr of Ogden, Utah. She married Dr. Edmund Robert (Ted) Moyes (Capt., USN Ret.). They married in the Salt Lake Temple, Salt Lake City, Salt Lake County, Utah on September 7, 1955. Melvina traveled to many East Asian countries (Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Thailand) and it was during those trips that she fell in love with the culture and decor. Her favorite memories to regale were her first eyes on Ted, her first meeting with Ted, and their subsequent courtship and marriage, her experiences raising her three daughters, and the adventures she and Ted shared throughout their lives together. She is survived by her brother, Alden Lorenzo Farr (Ramona) of Ogden, Utah; 3 daughters, Melynda Moyes Brant (Dr. Tom) of El Cajon, California, Michele Moyes Maxfield (Monty) of Hurricane, Utah, and Mareesa Moyes Watts (Dr. Steve) of Hurricane, Utah; 4 grandchildren, Melanie Maxfield Betts (Tory), Brandon M. Maxfield (Maggie), Joshua C. Brant, J.D., and Meghan M. Brant Elkins (Travis); and 12 great-grandchildren. Melvina also treated Steve’s sons, whom Mareesa and Steve raised, as her grandchildren, Joshua M. Watts, J.D., and Jared N.-E. Watts. She was preceded in death by her sweetheart, Dr. Ted Moyes, grandson, Michael Moyes Brant, Sister, La Verda Farr Johnson, brother-in-law, Dr. J. Kirk Moyes, sister-in-law, Sheryl Burnett Moyes, brother-in-law, Bartlett L. Couch, and sister-in-law, Margaret Joan Moyes Couch. The family would like to thank Sunny, RN, and Dakota, CNA, of SunTree Home Health for their exceptional service. We also want to acknowledge and express gratitude to those who shared their love for Melvina through their considerate and considerable service: Gail, Kelley, Wade and Rachelle, Jacquie, Dale, Myrna, Joyce, Terri, and her beloved home teachers, Ed (bishop) and Rita Lyman. Interment and a graveside service will be held Wednesday, 27 April 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at South Jordan Cemetery, 10630 South 1055 West, South Jordan, Utah 84095.
