Santa Clara, Utah - Theda Lou Christensen Beyer, age 91, of Santa Clara, Utah – beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend passed away on the afternoon of Sunday, November 29, 2020 from the Covid-19 virus. She lived a life full of service, hard work and love for her family and fellow man. Theda, known as Lou, was born in the family home in Rexburg, Idaho. She passed away at the Dixie Regional Medical Center in Saint George, Utah. She will be laid to rest in the Santa Clara Cemetery in Santa Clara, Utah. Theda Lou was the fourth child born to Irven and Lucy Irene Christensen. They inspired in her a great desire and love for learning, reading, hard work, make do attitude, and kindness and service to others. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many capacities and most positions available to a righteous sister, but her favorite calling was that of teacher. Whether in seminary or gospel doctrine or, including a mission in San Antonio Texas as well as a couple mission with her husband, Ralph Beyer in Austria. She left home at 14 shortly after her father’s remarriage and worked hard to support herself doing various jobs such as house cleaning and working as an usher in the movie theatre. Theda Lou graduated from high school in Shelley, Idaho. She lived in the school room at the historic Beehive House in Salt Lake City, Utah while attending the University of Utah for some college education. She had a job at the university as well as working at Snelgrove’s Ice Cream Parlor to put herself through college. She married Ralph Wolfgang Beyer in the Salt Lake City Temple in Salt Lake City, Utah on February 6, 1953. Together they had seven children, Kelley, Gregory R., Heather, Lori, Denise, Kristine, and Val J. They were both strong minded, strong willed, independent people who raised their children to love God, love their country, love family, and were not afraid to try something new and to work hard. Lou loved to read. She spoke often that when she was young, she would read her parents school and church books because she enjoyed learning and reading so much. She loved to work on family history. She always mentioned how it was like a treasure hunt finding the names and information of family members who had gone before. She also found great joy in gardening. She always had fruit trees and bushes and had a family garden growing in her yard until her arthritis and diminished eye sight prevented her from being able to do that any longer. Theda Lou was preceded in death by her father Irven, her mother Lucy Irene, her siblings Lea, Lynn J, Gene, Myrel G., and her husband Ralph. She is survived by her half siblings Art (Margaret) Christensen, Dian (Art) Kelly, Kay (Mike) Kelsey, Dale (MaryJo) Christensen, Karl (Leslie) Christensen, children Kelley (Lynn) Ivey, Gregory R. (Minghua) Beyer, Heather (Peter II) Karstens, Lori (Steve) Arnold, Denise (Peter) Baumert, Kristine (Darin) Leach, Val J., grand-children Nick, Jordan, Logan, & Davin Twitchell, Parke Sutton, Lon, Alex, Christopher & Joel Beyer, Jennifer Toone, Shawn Ikenoyama, Peter III, John, & Rosalynn Karstens, Kylie & Rylan Arnold, Jonathan, Lea, Josef, & Caleb Baumert, Ashley Preston Bowden, Andrew (Drew) Leach, twenty-four great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
