Calvin Wasden Johnson Obituary (2015)

Calvin Wasden Johnson, age 85, of Monroe, Utah, passed away March 27, 2015 in Richfield, Utah. He learned the value of work early, helping in the family lumber business with his dad and brothers. This core value of work served him well, even to the point where health no longer allowed him to do what he loved to do best. He loved animals and enjoyed caring for them. He had a great sense of humor. When nobody was around to hear his jokes, it’s easy to imagine him telling his stories and jokes to the animals. Cal was good at whatever he undertook, whether it was building houses, plumbing, or electrical work and he ran his own plumbing company for many years. Cal was a humble, spiritual man. As a member of the LDS church, he had a strong conviction of eternal bonds with family after this physical life has ended. While living in Salt Lake City, he was a close friend and home teacher to President Gordon B. Hinckley. He is survived by his beloved wife, Ellie of Monroe, Utah and his children: Luren (Linda) Johnson of Tacoma, Washington, Karen Johnson Marion of St. George, Utah, Christy Johnson of Casper, Wyoming, Marlan (Diana) Johnson of Casper, Wyoming, Jerry Johnson of Casper, Wyoming, Patty (Jim) Chapman of West Valley, Utah, Sandy Neumeier of Enoch, Utah, Jim and Bob Rouselle of Riverton, Wyoming, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is also survived by his two brothers, Edward (Ruth) Johnson of Billings, Montana, Louis (Louise) Johnson of Orem, Utah, and three sisters, Edna Taylor of San Clemente, California, Alva Lowe of Billings, Montana, and Annella Barnes of Vale, Oregon. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Sofe Johnson, and four brothers, Alvin Smith Johnson, Wasden George Johnson, Jerrold Johnson, Alvin (Bun) Smith Johnson Jr., and one sister Lois Johnson. Memorial services will be held at the Monroe 2nd Ward Chapel, Saturday April 11 at 11:00 am. Interment will be at Penrose Cemetery in Lovell, Wyoming.
