Carl Ellis Leon

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Carl Ellis Leon, a cherished husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, and friend, who slipped away peacefully in his sleep on September 8th, 2024, at the age of 83. Surrounded by family in his final moments, Carl's warmth, kindness, and unwavering love will be profoundly missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Born April 9th, 1941 into the loving home of Geno and Marilynn Leon, Carl learned the values of hard work, integrity, and compassion from an early age. He carried these lessons with him throughout his life, becoming a pillar of strength and support for his family and his colleagues of 60 years at IBEW Local 57. Carl shared a beautiful and enduring bond with his devoted wife of 63 years, Katherine C. Leon. Together, they created a loving home filled with laughter and joy, raising five incredible daughters who were the light of his life: Lori Wilson (David), Katrina Mitchell (Chris), Lisa Booth (Dan), Char Leon, and Lisa Leon. Their family grew to include 13 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great-grandchildren. Carl cherished his roles as a loving husband, son, brother, uncle, grandfather and father. But he was not just a father; he was also the protector and mentor to his daughters, always ready with a listening ear and wise advice. He is survived by his wife Katherine C. Leon, daughters, brothers, Richard D. Leon and Gene W. Leon (Cindy), and generations of grandchildren. Although he faced the heartbreak of losing his parents and his brother, Bill G. Leon, along with his beloved grandson, Dustin L. Bird, Carl found solace in the love and support of his family and close friends, which remain his greatest treasure. Known for his gentle spirit, great wit and infectious laughter, Carl had a unique gift for bringing people together. His passions, which included leatherwork and building radio-controlled airplanes, were not just hobbies; they were opportunities to bond with family and friends. He loved sharing his creations and stories, creating memories that will forever be cherished. A celebration of Carl's remarkable life will be announced in the coming days, inviting family and friends to gather and share their favorite memories and stories about him. The family would also like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Victory Apostolic Church, Integrated Hospice, St. George Regional Hospital, and a special thanks to his C.N.A. (and adopted granddaughter), Ally Dahl. Carl Leon will always be remembered as a guiding light in the lives of those he loved. His spirit is not gone. It now is at peace with Jesus Christ and will continue to shine brightly in our hearts, reminding us of the love and joy he brought into our lives. Rest in peace, dear Carl (Grumps); you will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
