Carolyn Weir Sampson

Carolyn (Weir) Sampson, age 65, of Ivins, Utah, passed away peacefully at home on February 15, 2026. Carolyn was born on June 18, 1960, in Marton, New Zealand, to David and Pauline (Satherley) Weir. From an early age, she carried a vibrant spirit and deep love for people that would mark her entire life. In 1985, she attended GLO Bible College in Te Awamutu, New Zealand, where her passion for God’s Word and evangelism deepened. She later graduated from the University of Canterbury in December 1999 with a Bachelor of Commerce degree, reflecting her diligence and perseverance. Carolyn married Larry Sampson on February 18, 2001, in Christchurch, New Zealand. Following their marriage, they made their home in Morris, Illinois, before moving to Ivins, Utah, in March 2018. Together they built a life rooted in faith, love, and adventure. In their southwest Utah home, they enjoyed year-round outdoor activities they both cherished, including cycling, tent camping, and hiking. Carolyn and Larry immensely enjoyed their church family at Grace Place Church. Carolyn was deeply involved in church activities, Bible studies, and women’s fellowship groups. She loved her Lord Jesus passionately and was a diligent student of God’s Word. Her burning desire was for everyone to enjoy a saving relationship with Jesus Christ. She had a heart for all people and a special passion for evangelism. Carolyn loved to laugh, play board games, and faithfully served as a reserve crossing guard in Ivins. She treasured all of her friendships, including her longtime best friend, Cindy. Her warmth, joy, and radiant personality lit up every room she entered. She lived with purpose, loved without reservation, and pointed others to Christ through both her words and her life. Carolyn’s legacy of faith, love, joy, and steadfast devotion will live on in all who were blessed to know her. She was preceded in death by her parents, David and Pauline, and her brother, Keith. She is survived by her husband, Larry; her sister, Judene; her brother, Neville; and numerous nieces and nephews who will cherish her memory. A memorial service for Carolyn will be held at Serenity Funeral Home of Southern Utah located at 1316 South 400 East #A5, St. George, Utah, on Friday, March 20, at 1:00 PM. Larry would like to extend sincere thanks to The Grace Place members, friends, neighbors, and family members who graciously shared love, prayers, care, and food during Carolyn’s last days. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Grace Place building fund.
