Daniel Howard Tuttle

Daniel Howard Tuttle passed away July 14, 2022, in Hurricane, UT. He was born July 14, 1946, to Maurice and Rigmor Andersen Tuttle in Salt Lake County. He was the eighth of nine children. He often joked he slept in a top dresser drawer in the family home in Magna, Utah. Dan married his high school sweetheart Marcia Wilson on March 18, 1966. They had four children and 13 grandchildren whom they loved with all their hearts. Marcia passed away on November 7, 2004. Dan married Sherry Nuttall Roberts on May 20, 2005. They spent the next 17 years by each other’s side for adventure after adventure. He loved traveling and spending time with his family. He was so supportive and proud of them and all their accomplishments. Dan’s life and career was busy and full. His biggest talent was taking care of people. He was a true Democrat, spending 14 years in the State Legislature, representing his hometown of Magna from 1984-1998. He was voted the Representative of the Year in 1989 by the Utah Democratic Party and in 1990 by the ARC of Utah. Dan served as a Trustee on the Magna Water Board for eight years and as Chairman for five years. He was a proud Cyprus High School “Pirate” and was entered into the CHS Hall of Fame in 1998. Dan retired from Kennecott Utah Copper in 1997 after 32 years and was a strong union steward. In 1998 he became the Manager of Public and Government Affairs for US Magnesium LLC. He loved his job and proved his worth, every day for the 24 years he held it. Dan loved the friends he made through his years serving in the state legislature and lobbying in Washington D.C. He also served on the Great Salt Lake Advisory Council from 2010 to the present. Dan loved Antelope Island and he made many memories with family and friends while participating in the annual Bison Roundup on the island. He also served on the Utah Division of Forestry, Fire and State Lands Advisory Council from 1999-2006. Dan passed away peacefully with his wife, Sherry and members of their family by his side. Dan is survived by: his wife, Sherry; mother-in-law Elizabeth Nuttall; and his stepmother Norma Nuttall; children and stepchildren, Michael (Brenda), Andrew (Tiffany), Mardee (Spencer) Allen, Wendy (Craig) Bliss, Christa (Chris) Aydelotte, Tyler (Angie) Roberts, Cody Roberts (Tina); twenty-four grandchildren and three great grandchildren; four siblings, Maurice (Glenna), Kenneth (Sylvia), Thomas (Connie), David (JoAnn); loving nieces, nephews and friends. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at St. George Regional Hospital and Lacey Evans with Hospice. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 22, 2022, at 12:00 noon. at the Hurricane 20th ward LDS Chapel, located at 642 North 2850 West, Hurricane, Utah. A viewing will be held prior to services from 10:00-11:15 a.m. at the same location. Interment will take place at the Hurricane City Cemetery.
