Darlene Mae Anderson

Ivins, UT – Darlene Mae Dawson Anderson born June 4, 1938, in St. Joseph, Buchanan County, MI, to Willis Lester and Winifred Angess Bickers Dawson, passed away on September 12, 2015, at her home in Ivins, UT. Darlene was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. At age 15, she was taught the truths of the gospel by stake missionaries and was baptized in March of 1954. Darlene held many positions in the church. She worked in the primary as a teacher, a development leader and teacher in the Cub Scout program for twelve years serving as a Cub Master, Den Leader, and Den Leader coordinator. She served in the Young Women’s program teaching her beloved Mia Maids for five years and has enjoyed a long and happy association with her girls into adulthood. She also served in the Sunday school program teaching both youth and adults. In addition to service in the Primary, Cub Scouts, Young Women’s, and Sunday school programs, Darlene served in several callings in the Relief Society. She has been a president, councilor, teacher, visiting teaching coordinator, home making leader, and visiting teacher. Darlene’s greatest happiness was in her companionship with her husband and best friend, Kenneth Anderson. She truly loved her family and enjoyed a sweet and happy relationship with them. She adored her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. They occupied a place in her heart and she prayed for their well-being every day. She had many close and dear friends whom she loved and prized. She was particularly grateful for life long associations. She loved to entertain guests and was always happy to have friends and family gathered about enjoying good food and friendship. She was a faithful Latter-Day Saint and cherished her membership which was a constant source of happiness in her life. It enabled her to endure the loss of her mother, father, and sister. She believed whole heartedly in the principles of the gospel and in the joy of reunion in the eternities. Even now, she waits eagerly for the joy of being together again with her dear husband, Kenneth, her family, and friends. She is survived: by her husband, Kenneth Paul Anderson of Ivins, UT; her children: Lola Riggs of Page, AZ, Deborah Gayle Sneed of Modesto, CA, Karen Anderson of Redlands, CA, and Donald Anderson of Los Angeles, CA; her beloved grandchildren: Joseph, Miranda Katelyn, Jonathan, Sarah, and Trent Sneed, Summer Anderson, Zachary Anderson, Darrin Goodman, Harry Riggs III, and Lance Riggs; and five great-grandchildren: Jordan Goodman, David Goodman, Carolina Sneed, Ruby Sneed, and Beau Sneed. She is preceded in death by her parents: Willis and Winifred Dawson; by her son, Kevin Trent Anderson, and her step sister: Scharalen Rose Cooper.
