Derek Clyde Larson

Derek Clyde Larson - 52, Passed away May 27, 2024, after suffering a heart attack. He was born April 8, 1972, in Jackson, Wyoming, the oldest son of Karl Scott Larson and EvaLee Lancaster Larson. He moved with his family to Kalispell, Montana where he attended school —kindergarten through eighth grade. The family then moved to St George, Utah where he attended Dixie Middle School and Dixie High School. While at Dixie he excelled at football, which he really loved. He married Nikohle Cannon in 1992. Two children, Aspen Emery Larson and Dylen Clyde Gil Larson, were born to this union. They later divorced. He had one more child, Trey Derek Larson. He loved his children. They were the light of his life and what he lived for. He was an outstanding Dad. When Aspen was old enough to play soccer, Derek spent countless hours coaching the soccer teams. He loved football and the Denver Broncos was his all-time favorite team. He loved to snow ski, especially with his son Dylen. He and Trey enjoyed going riding in his side by side. He spent hours helping Trey build intricate Legos. He loved to play games at family gatherings and was more than competitive. Derek loved being a grandpa, and adored his two grandsons Jaxson and River, Aspen’s children. He would always do fireworks with them. He had a rain gutter business and had his youngest brother TJ work for him. More recently Derek was involved with his father Karl in Stucki Farms Development, building homes and doing property management with Desert Ski Vacation Rentals. He is survived by his children Aspen Larson, Dylen Larson, and Trey Larson., Grandchildren Jaxson Larson and River Smith, his brothers Brian Larson (Christie), and Todd Larson, and sister Krista Barker (Kirk), parents Karl and EvaLee Larson, as well as many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by a brother, TJ Larson. Derek will be sorely missed. In lieu of flowers the family would prefer a living plant that will continue with them for years to come. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 1, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the Santa Clara 3rd Ward LDS Chapel located at 3040 Santa Clara Dr., Santa Clara, UT. Viewings will be held Friday evening May 31st from 6:00 – 7:30 pm and again on Saturday morning prior to services from 10:00 – 10:45 a.m. at the same location. Interment will follow the service at the Santa Clara City Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Serenity Funeral Home of Southern Utah, 986-9100.
