Gloria "Eve" Oppedisano

Gloria “Eve” Oppedisano, age 80 of Page, Arizona passed from this life on October 30, 2014 surrounded by her family. She was born Christmas Eve (December 24th) 1933 in Oxnard, California to Johnny and Diane Jamison. She comes from a long line of performers so spent most of her informative years in Catholic boarding school while her mother, a show girl, was on the road performing. In the 1940’s, her mother met the love her life, Eve’s step-father Sidney Clavin and they all lived together in Burbank, California where Eve attended and graduated from John Marshall High School. She thrived in public high school and enjoyed drama club and performing and riding her horse. After High School, Eve trained as a secretary and worked until she got married and decided to become a full time homemaker and mother to their two daughters and his children. She had a love of the theatre and the arts so put her girls in ballet and became very involved on the board of directors of their ballet company. She was also involved in their school PTA and was always volunteering for various causes and community service. She returned to work in the 1970’s as a secretary and worked continuously until her retirement in 1993. Also in the 1970’s, she joined the Coast Guard Auxiliary where she remained a member for nearly 38 years. As a widow, she met who was to become the love of her life, best friend and partner at an Auxiliary dance, Vince Oppedisano and they were married in 1989. She continued to enjoy the Auxiliary with Vince and volunteering with the sheriff’s and fire departments always at Vince’s side while he enjoyed his hobby Amateur (Ham) Radio. They retired together in 1993 from Farmers Insurance and moved to Arizona to enjoy the next phase of their life. They settled in Prescott Valley, then Page in 2001. She loved animals, eagles, lighthouses, Indian jewelry and artifacts and decorated their home with many collections. Eve spent many active years traveling with Vince across the nation and taking some cruises and also enjoyed visiting with her daughters and grandchildren in California. She remained very active with the Coast Guard Auxiliary on Lake Powell and also joined the Beta Mu Sorority where she could continue her love of friendship, sisterhood and community service. Eve was loved by everyone she knew. She could never find fault with anyone. She was a wonderful mother dedicated to raising her two daughters and a loving “Nana”. She always saw the good in everything. She would say, if looking at a big pile of horse manure, “there must be a pony in there somewhere”. She was a singularly wonderful and special person who always shared and always “told it like it was”. She will be missed dearly. May she rest in peace in the presence of our Lord, Jesus Christ. Eve leaves to mourn her passing her loving husband Vince, her daughter Diane Seeliger and grandson Christoph Seeliger. Her daughter Patrice and son-in-law Daniel Haerle and grandchildren, Devin, Dylan, Dalaney and Daela Haerle and Vince’s son Greg and daughter Chrissie. Eve’s viewing will begin at 1:00 with memorial service held at 2:00 on Saturday, November 8th at the Shepherd of the Desert Lutheran Church 331 S. Lake Powell Blvd. Page, AZ 86040 with immediate graveside service following at Page Cemetery, Page, AZ. In lieu of flowers, donations may be accepted to Eve’s favorite charity, Saint Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
