Gregory Louis Dutra

Gregory Luis Dutra passed away at St. George Regional Hospital on April 3rd, 2024, after suffering multiple strokes, attempting to recover for many weeks, and eventually suffering cardiac arrest. Greg was born October 14th, 1961, in Turlock, California, and was raised in Sutter Creek, California, where he attended school until the 11th grade. He enjoyed many antics with his friends in the beautiful country sides of Amador County, participating in his fair share of tomfoolery. Greg was known throughout his life as one who was playful with his friends and family, bringing life and laughter to those around him. Greg served in the California Conservation Corps in the 1980s and spent much of his life working as a tradesman doing construction and truck driving. Through his years as a truck driver, Greg made many friends who speak fondly of him. In 1994, Greg married the love of his life, Susan Dutra, née Barron, who together created a blended family of four children, for whom they loved, raised, and cared together in Evanston, Wyoming and eventually settling in Star Valley, Wyoming. Once all of their children left home, Greg and Susan became snowbirds, enjoying the beautiful mountains and valleys of Wyoming during the summer, and the rugged and gorgeous terrain of St. George, Utah in the winters. Throughout his life, Greg loved to mine for gold in the streams of California and was an avid fisherman and hunter, often going out together with his friends. He loved taking motorcycle rides with his wife, Susan, and their friends. He always looked forward to going to Jackson Lake in Wyoming on the weekends, relaxing and fishing on his boat, often with his children and their spouses and his grandkids. He loved to spend time with friends, just talking and telling old stories. He adored his new puppy, Missy, and enjoyed going out and racing his car with his friends in St. George. He loved his family and was forever changed at the birth of his first grandchild and with each subsequent little one becoming quite the softy and very loving and fun grandfather to a total of 11 grandchildren. Greg is survived by his wife, Susan, his four children, Jessie, Zachary, Tycie, and Justin, and his 11 grandchildren, Landon, Bella, Margie, James, Cole, Allie, Ben, Grace, Jace, Lukas, and Zoe. He is also survived by his sister Glenda and her daughter Katie, his brother Steve and his children, Allie, Zachary, and Kaden, and his parents Glenn and Brenda. He is also survived by his much-loved puppy, Missy. Greg was preceded in death by his nephews Christopher and William. And also preceded in death by his beloved dog of 18 years, Dixie. A memorial service for Greg will be held Saturday, April 6, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Serenity Funeral Home of Southern Utah, 1316 S 400 E STE A5, St. George, UT 84790.
