James LeVawn Jensen

James LeVawn Jensen, 86, passed away on August 26, in his home in Hurricane. He was born on July 22, 1937 to LeVawn Findley Jensen and Marie Cook Jensen. He married Susan Stratton on September 15, 1962, in the St. George LDS Temple, they were married for 39 years until she passed away in 2001. He married Jeanne Weaver Seagle on January 17, 2003 and welcomed her children and their families into his heart. Dad grew up in Idaho and graduated from Idaho Falls High School in 1955. He attended Ricks College and BYU, served in the Army, and served a mission to Mexico City for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Dad was a Fire Fighter for the City of Las Vegas, NV for 28 years and was also a Paramedic for 4 of those years. Dad also started and ran an independent firefighter newspaper for several years. Dad was a warm, friendly guy who always had a smile and a kind word for everyone he met. Dad was an eternal optimist, always saw the best in people, would help anyone he knew was in need, and loved teasing everyone and making them laugh. Dad loved to learn, and enjoyed studying the law, traveling, hiking, treasure hunting, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren….he adored his grandchildren. Jim is survived by his wife, Jeanne Seagle; his children James Kerry Jensen of Idaho Falls; Michael Stratton Jensen (Jennifer) of Hurricane; Tamara Wheeler (Jessie) of Hurricane. He has seven grandchildren (Cory, Coby, Zachary, Addison, Parker, Kathleen, and Brady) and 2 great-grandchildren (Brooks and Harper). He is also survived by Jeanne’s children Laura (Don) Frakes, Cynthia (Daniel) Bastian, Jennifer Friel, Sarah (Michael) Wendel, Amanda (Nathan) Judd, an additional 22 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Susan, his parents LeVawn & Marie, and his sister, Vonda Vaughn. The family would like to thank the caring staff of the Beehive Home as well as Suntree Home Health & Hospice for the love and concern they have shown for our sweet Father. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 1, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at the Hurricane Stake Center 677 S. 700 W. Hurricane, Utah. A viewing will be held prior to the service from 9:00 a.m. – 9:45 a.m. at the same location. Interment will be at the Hurricane Cemetery.
