Karma Rae Grayman

Karma Rae Grayman was born on November 10, 1951, in Delta, Utah, to Arthur Tillahash (Shivwits) and Evelyn Sampson (Kaibab). She passed away on December 17, 2025, in St. George, Utah. Karma was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and educator whose life was rooted in service, learning, and family. She is survived by her children: Charles, Hope (Humberto), Winter, Enos, and Ferg. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Daryl Tillahash; her sister, Charlene Tillahash; Grandson; Walter Grayman and her life partner, Ferman Grayman. She began her working years as a seamstress at Kellwood, where she dedicated many years before following her passion for education. Karma later attended Dixie College and Southern Utah University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in education. She went on to work for the Clark County School District as an ESL teacher in Las Vegas, Nevada, until her retirement. She then returned home to work for the Paiute Indian Tribe of Utah as a social worker. Karma also served the Washington County School District in Indian Education, where she strongly advocated for Native students and their success. Karma served for many years as the Education Representative for the Shivwits Band and was a member of the SBC Board. In her later years, she continued her lifelong commitment to education by delivering presentations throughout Washington County, sharing Southern Paiute history, and teaching the Paiute language to her community. Karma was a proud grandmother to Devyn, Shaquoyah, Julliana, Veronica, Jaime, Washi, Geronimo, Darius, and Isaiah, and a loving great-grandmother to Aaylani, Phoenix, Lydia, and Falcon (Little Bird). Her greatest joy was watching her grandchildren grow and succeed in life, as she was a lifelong advocate for education. In her spare time, she enjoyed watching K-dramas. Karma Rae Grayman will be remembered for her unwavering dedication to education, her deep love for family, and her lifelong commitment to uplifting her community. Her legacy lives through the many lives she has touched. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at the Ivins LDS Chapel located at 240 East 1060 South, Ivins, Utah. A viewing will take place prior to services from 11:00 – 11:30 a.m. at the same location.
