L. Karr Farnsworth

L. Karr Farnsworth, 87, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2026, surrounded by his three daughters and son‑in‑law. Born in February 1939 in Riverside, California, to Arthur Blaine and Ella May Farnsworth, Karr was the eldest of three sons. He grew up in Riverside, where he developed a strong work ethic early in life, beginning a paper route and mowing lawns by fourth grade. He graduated from Polytechnic High School. Before turning 18, Karr joined the Marine Reserves, serving alongside his brother Clair Blaine for five years. Following his service, he pursued his lifelong goal of working in law enforcement. He began his career with the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, serving six and a half years in Lake Elsinore, California, a role he cherished and spoke of often. In 1960, Karr married Jeanine, whom he met on a blind date arranged by friends. Together they built a life rooted in faith, family, and service. Both were devoted members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter‑day Saints and were later sealed in the Los Angeles Temple. While living in Lake Elsinore, they welcomed three daughters. Karr eventually transitioned from law enforcement to youth and family programs, a calling that brought the family to Utah when their youngest daughter was six months old. He spent the remainder of his career supporting teens and their families, work for which he was deeply respected. Known for his sense of humor, warm smile, and genuine kindness, Karr was beloved by all who knew him. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great‑grandfather, friend, and neighbor. Karr is survived by his daughters Kara Lyons, Kami Farnsworth, and Jeni Salmi; his son‑in‑law David Salmi; grandchildren Tanner Lyons, Lexy Lyons‑Dusek, Olivia Salmi, Kendra Salmi‑Hanson, and David “Boo” Salmi; and great‑grandchildren Leah Hanson, Ethan Hanson, and Quinny Salmi. He is also survived by grandson‑in‑law Jed Hanson and grandson‑in‑law Quinn Dusek. Funeral services will be held on Saturday the 11th of April at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter‑day Saints, 320 N. 3400 W, Hurricane, Utah. Viewing from 11:00 to 11:45 a.m. and services beginning at 12:00 noon. Interment will follow at Hurricane City Cemetery.
