Lester Kay Jepperson

It is with great sadness that the family of Lester Kay Jepperson (79) announce his passing on September 12, 2024. Les was born in 1945 in Orem, UT. He was the son of Ford Jepperson and Susie (Gordon) Jepperson and brother to Gordon, Ronald, Susann, Dennis, Rebecca, Dan, and Darlene. He was married to Joleen in 1964, and they had 3 sons. He later married Vickie in 1987 and gained another son and a daughter. He grew up helping in the orchards and farming for Merrill Kitchen and Dave Kirk. He said he always enjoyed working with them. He earned his Eagle Scout and participated in the Order of the Arrow as a young man. He graduated from Orem High School in 1963. He then joined the Army Corps of Engineers where he helped build the Laughlin bridge and the road from Hobble Creek to Provo Canyon. He was a member of the Army National Guard from 1966 to 1967. He also worked at Geneva/US Steel for 19 years. He was skilled as a heavy equipment operator of all kinds, truck driver, mechanic, and all-around handyman. He could fix almost anything. Les and his wife Vickie were very fortunate to spend many years working alongside each other as they managed Star Valley Ranch Resorts (Wyoming/Arizona), Rivers Edge Resort (Alaska), and Pueblo El Mirage (Arizona). They were blessed to get to see and experience so many beautiful places and made many lifelong friends. He loved watching birds and wildlife as well as hunting and fishing with his friends and family. He was always most happy to go on rides out in nature and enjoy the beauty of the earth. His greatest treasure in life was his family. He loved every moment he got to spend with his kids and grandkids. He is loved and missed dearly by his wife, 5 children, 13 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren. An informal Celebration of Life will be held at The Salem Community Center (151 W. 300 S., Salem, UT 84653) on Sunday October 13th from 4:00 pm to 6:30 pm. We will be sharing our favorite memories while enjoying some of Les’s favorite sweet treats. Following the celebration the family will be releasing lanterns on the pond to send our love to him.
