Marlene (Humphries) Bunker

Marlene (Humphries) Bunker left her loving husband Clive and their earthly home in St. George, Utah on Saturday morning August 8, 2026, to return to her Heavenly parents and rejoin her earthly parents, Willard and Emmarene (Staheli) Humphries, her brother DeLaun and her nephew Jason, all who had preceded her in death. Marlene was born in St. George, Utah on February 27, 1956. She grew up in Enterprise Utah in a loving home including 4 brothers and 1 sister. She attended Enterprise Schools and graduated from Enterprise High school in 1974. She also attended SUSC for a short time. Marlene was born with a few health problems that made growing up a little difficult, but she didn't let that stop her. She always had a smile on her face and tried to make everyone happy. Especially her mom as they developed a close relationship. Up to the time she married, she helped her mom take care of her hair as she set it in curlers each week for her! Many happy hours were spent as a family as they spent time together sharing fun and laughter, whether in Enterprise or on the family farm. Marlene served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Iowa Des Moines Mission from October 1981 to March 1983. She loved her mission and loved to share stories and experiences she had while serving in Iowa. She had many companions whom she loved and cherished, but she held a special place in her heart and stayed in contact with Sister Darlene (LaMarsh) Bertelsen. In 1992, a couple of her Aunts and Uncles were on a Church History bus tour when they met a young man by the name of Clive Bunker from Bunkerville, Nevada. They felt very impressed that they should introduce their niece, Marlene Humphries, to him. They were able to do this shortly after their bus trip. Marlene was so excited to meet Clive. And they dated a few times and decided that it would be a great idea to become man and wife. They were married in the St. George Temple on March 20, 1993. The ceremony was performed by Lyle Jones. It was a match made in Heaven as they shared 33 years of Happiness taking care of each other. Clive showed his love over the last while as he lovingly and patiently took care of Marlene, meeting her every need. They started their life together in Las Vegas, Nevada where Clive worked at the Holsum Bakery. Marlene served in various callings in the church, including Sunday School Secretary and Ward Librarian. She served as a faithful Visiting teacher, making sure that the sisters she served were watched over. Clive retired in 2018 when they decided it was time to move closer to family. They moved to St. George, Utah to their current home in the Rainbow Ridge retirement community where they made many new friends and where they were living when Marlene quietly passed away. Marlene had a deep love for family, especially her family. She made certain that each of her brothers and sister, along with their partners, received a birthday and Christmas card, which always included a note of love and appreciation for them. She loved all of her 30 nieces and nephews and made sure that they all received Christmas cards. She had a strong testimony of her Savior and loved Him with all her heart. She loved reading a good romance book and enjoyed doing different kinds of puzzles, especially word search puzzles. She will be missed so much! Marlene was preceded in death by her parents, Willard and Emmarene (Staheli) Humphries, her brother DeLaun Humphries, nephew Jason Humphries, all of Enterprise, Utah, and her brother-in-law, George Robert (Bob) Smith of Provo, Utah. She is survived by her husband Clive, and her siblings Vernon (Vicky) Humphries of West Jordan, Utah; Jean Smith of Provo, Utah; Allen (Melanie) Humphries of Enterprise, Utah; Tereasa (Platt) Humphries (wife of DeLaun Humphries, deceased); and Ronald (Teresa) Humphries of Enterprise. A viewing and memorial service to celebrate Marlene's life will take place on Monday, August 17th, 2026 (viewing at 9:30-10:30, services at 11:00) in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints church building located at 1610 North Dixie Downs Road, St. George, Utah 84770.
